    Nashua River Report 7/14

My buddies Bob, Paul, and myself hit the river Wednesday for a few hours after work. The three of us go together in Bob's 22 fott Tritanic. Well, we killed them. Bob got the biggest with one that went 5 even. I couldn't even keep track of how many I caught that were 3 lbs or slightly better. If we were fishing a normal team tournament for eight fish I would say that Bob and I would easily have broken 25 lbs.

Here is the funny thing. Bob got all his fish on a jig. I was throwing a 6 inch senko that I had still had tied on from Sunday when I fished at a T on Stumpfield. (The senko didn't work at Stumpy, the only big fish I caught, around 4 lbs, I got on a jig.) Anyway, I was wacking them on the big senko. I had about half a dozen good ones before it was finally too tore up to use any more. The only problem was I keep all my big senkos in my boat. So I switched to a five inch and the bite stopped dead. For about an hour I got nothing. Then all of a sudden it turned on again. I got a bunch more with a few over three. A strange but fruitful night.

WOW Did you have to drag deep or were they shallow under the pads?

They were in the deeper channel weed edges.

    Very nice!

My uncle lives about 2 miles from there, and that's the only place he really likes to fish. He's too lazy to drive anywhere else, he's a fair weather fishermen, and he's too anal with his boat to risk bringing it places he doesn't know, and potential hit a stick and scratch it.

My dad was finally able to convince him this year to branch out and get to other lakes. Couple of weeks ago, he went to Greenfield, and there was a tourney, so he couldn't get it. Then headed to Powder Mill, and his trolling motor battery was dead (he forgot to put the new one in the night before). So, all ticked off, he headed home to change the battery, then hit the Nashua river to salvage something of his day.

10 minutes after launching, he landed his new personal best largie at just shy of 7 lbs. We'll never get him off of that river ever again.
