    Mega 360 issues / Why did this happen

    Took my boat out to the lake after installing all new components. Solix Gen 3 - 15 - 12 - 12. The 2 12's @ bow, 15 @ console.

    Running a XTM 14 HW MSI T - SOLIX MEGA SI+, DI+, Dual Spectrum CHIRP w/ Temp Trolling Motor Transducer w/ Y cable to Mega 360 to 1 12 @ bow. Working great and for the life of me I dont know why I messed with it.

    The other 12 @ bow just had ethernet connection to switch. Decided to do away with the Y cable and hook 360 direct to the 2nd unit.

    Could not see the Mega 360 at all on my units, would not work, restored defaults and still no luck. Hooked the Y cable back up and still nothing.

    Checked power to Mega all good, its like the Mega 360 is dead, any thoughts?

    Used a new 10' cable that originally came with my Mega 360 also.

    All latest firmware 5.250 on heads.

    All components with latest firmware. Ultrex w/ Advanced GPS, Target lock, mega live 2 and working great other Mega 360??

    The one boat network is very nice...

    This is what happened to me after installing all Xplore units. Same setup, 2 at the bow and one at the console. My M360 worked at first, but now it doesn't show up at all. I've tried all new cables and connections. It's getting power too. Probably have to call HB tech support to see what happened...

    Yes sir remember reading your post. Same situation but different circumstances. Did you ever get your issue resolved?

    Wished that I would have left mine alone, never would have guessed that something so simple as removing the Y cable would have caused my problem. Very aggravating to say the least..

    Did you ever get your problem resolved?
    Mine sure acts like the 360 just died, getting power and used new cables as well.

    Update on my situation.
    I went to BPS and bought a NIB 360. Installed it on the deck of my Skeeter with the new cables and worked w/ out issues. My units recognized the 360. Hooked my old 360 up with the new cables and was not found on the units. Hooked the new 360 to the cables already ran and was not seen.
    Removed old cables and installed new cables, routed them and reconnected the new 360 and everything is working.
    So did I have an issue with my original cables? Did it short out my 360?
    I feel lucky nothing happened to the new 360 by hooking up to old cables.
    I will be sending my old 360 and cables back to HB for diagnosis and repair.
    Will advise on findings.

    You have to use Helix software to update with a Helix.
    You have to use SOLIX/APEX/Xplore software to update using those units.
    The results are the same, you can use any of the four models to run it.

    Nothing in Chris' post right above yours indicates in any way that it would be a software issue. As Wayne said, there hasn't been a Mega 360 update in years. It's rock solid from an operational standpoint with old and new equipment.

    Yeah, I'm just grasping at straws now. Hard to understand how it would just stop working like that. And I don't really want to go drop another $1299 at Bass Pro on a new one to trouble shoot! mine is only 5 years old and has worked perfectly up until now. We'll see what HB tells Chris after he sends his back. I have a few more things to test on mine to see if anything works...

    Got my Mega 360 off yesterday headed for diagnosing.
    HB customer's service handled it quickly and got me a shipping label and RA number emailed over.
    Sent in the power and 10’ TD cable with the Mega, stated will have back in 3 to 5 days after receiving.

    Will let you guys know what the issues were.

    My 360 is on the way back from HB. The control head was bad. Installed new control head, no other explanation as to why it failed. All cables checked out good.

    Thanks for the update - was yours covered under warranty? Mine is 5 years old, so I'm expecting to have to pay the standard repair fee...I think it's like $338 for the M360. Oh, and plus the shipping cost and I'll have to find a box large enough for it...

    My 360 was only 1 1/2 months old, was covered under warranty. The $338 sounds correct, definitely worth the repair cost vs buying a new one.

    Well, it's the same with mine - control head was bad. They did turn it around quickly which I appreciate. Should have it back later this week.
