The prep isn't fun but it is only for one night. Having the procedure done is much better than dealing with colon cancer.

Suck it up. You'll make it through it. I did, and I'm a notorious wimp.

Hatcreek's video pretty much nails it.
Just curious. Did they put you to sleep? They did me so I have no idea what went on. 🤔 Not sure if that was a good thing or not. 🤣

A friend of mine got a go to hell look from the doc when he said "now I can't say I've never been with a man before".

Change you toilet seat out to one of those soft fuzzy ones before starting.

On my last one I woke up in the middle of the procedure. I told the doctor I was awake and it hurt like hell. He told me they don’t put you that far under anymore. I told him I won’t be back anymore. I’m 82 and my doctor told me I’m due for another one, but I’m going to chance not getting another one. If I was 50 I would get them as scheduled.

LOL that's a given. I thought you didn't detect the impending bathroom trot

Don't force it. If you do make sure you have enough tp and paper towels for the clean up

My second one came after my annual physical and during the prostate exam they said they found some blood in my stool. They scheduled me with a proctologist and when I met with her before the procedure I told her I thought the blood was due to an over zealous prostate exam. We both laughed about it. After the procedure she came into the room and said they didn't find anything and that I may have been right with the over zealous exam.

The only problem with it is prep. Everything else is gravy, literally.

Yes I have done a few and the last one was with the pills instead of the liquid chalk stuff. They are both very effective. The prep is definitely the worst part you won't know anything about the procedure.

It's not that bad. I did it last year. I started eating very light several days before and started the liquid diet a day before they told me to start. Also, I had a choice of two type of prep stuff. One was a gallon jug of stuff and the other was two small bottles of stuff and drinking a lot of water. I went with the two small bottles.

I had my first one done at 48 at the direction from my doctor. Good thing I did, they found a large polyp that couldn't be taken care of during the exam. Ended up having to have surgery to have it removed. Had I waited until 50 it would have been much worse I would guess. As most have said, drinking that nasty shit is awful and very hard to get it all down, then all Hell breaks loose . I had the unfortunate experience of waking up during the exam and watching the screen live during my exam. Unfortunately it is a must to catch it before colon cancer sets in.

I have done three. They are not life changing events. The preparation part should be complete long before bed time. The girl with the sleepy medication is your friend. Be nice to her. You will probably sleep most of the day after your test. You will be ready to fish the next day.

Done it a couple times as well and the purging wasn't what everyone rants about it being. I guess it all depends on how much you really eat the night before starting it. Can say for certain though the sleep you get while going thru the procedure is some of the best sleep you will ever get!

Might not the best thing to prep for, but i'd be more worried about life or death. Been having them since late 30's and into my 40's.

I just had one last Wednesday. The prep was different from other years, Suflave. I have to get one every 5 years because my mom passed from colon cancer. It sucks but I’d rather know what’s going on than not. I was given an IV to knock me out, don’t remember a thing. It was nice to take a nap.

Two days after the colonoscopy, I had a kidney stone. Went to urgent care on Saturday morning. They gave me a shot for the pain that lasted 7 hours. Took 2 Advil Dual Action pain reliever after the shot wore off and was good to go. I peed through a strainer for two days and never saw it but felt better.

I’ve had 3. No big deal at all.
