No man wants to do this but it's gotta be done I guess.

Colonoscopy .... I am 50 in Aug and have yet to get it done. Am I way past due? How bad is the prep?

Just get the expensive butthole cream. You’ll be fine.

Install one of those bidet attachments on your toilet. You can send a thank you note later.

I've done a few and actually don't mine the purging. Makes me feel good afterwards, clean, flushed.

They don't call it "The Night of 1000 Waterfalls" for nothing. First one I had to drink 2 32oz. Gatorades with a laxative in them. I thought that would be easy but it seemed like that 2nd Gatorade was never going to be empty. The second time I had to drink 16 oz. of a solution which was much easier. The prep isn't fun but it is only for one night. Having the procedure done is much better than dealing with colon cancer.

Suck it up. You'll make it through it. I did, and I'm a notorious wimp.

Hatcreek's video pretty much nails it.

The 50-yr rite of passage! The prep is never fun - particularly the last "purge." But...it certainly beats the alternative!

It sucked. I couldn't fart enough for the 2 days after for my stomach to get feeling better, they aired me so full. And you surely don't want to fart the days before, because it most likely isn't just gas. Bad experience all the way around!

I just did the colorgaurd test. Hopefully that is enough. I had one colonoscopy and that is enough for me. The prep hurt worse than the procedure. The ring of fire still fresh in my mind.

On my last one they put me in "twilight". When I came to in the recovery room, a nurse was standing there. She said 'Hi, I'm Mary. Try to fart".

My Doctor told me if you dont want someone to spend a lot of time in that of your body be sure to get a colonoscopy. If you don't and something is wrong a lot of Dr's will be spending a lot of time back there

I have 5 brothers and 5 sisters, and a slew of other relatives. Colon issues do not run in my family, so my doctor gives me the colonguard screening once a year. My wife, on the other hand, has a family history of colon disease, and she must have a colonoscopy every 5 years.

Just pray they don’t find polyps. If they do, they schedule you on a more frequent basis until they find none, even if they come back benign, they like to make sure.! My last time in they said all good and return in 10yrs.!

It is a whole lot of toilet sitting. Depending on what prep they choose, it is drinking some nasty tasting crap too.

Nothing to it. I don't know what prep y-all are using but I only go about 3-4 good times in a 24 hour period and it's nothing like what Brian illustrated above Nothing that makes me feel like I've been pooping fire for a week.

And I've never had gas after the procedure. A buddy of mine said he farted for 30 minutes after his. Not sure why some fart and some don't.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

    Hi Mike.

Don't trust the Cologuard thing at all. I know it is supposed to be 90 something percent accurate but I don't buy it.

A fella I worked with put off the colonoscopy for a few years after turning 50 and started having some issues down there. He decided to go the Cologuard route. His results came back and said he was all clear. 2 weeks later he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. He passed away last October at the age of 55.

    Go get your Colonoscopy.
