    Not saying this is the case here, but what if you are carrying and someone is going to, or is, beating the crap out of you. Can a person claim they were afraid they would take their gun and kill then with it. Is that a legal defense, even though the person wasn't armed?

    We have a pretty victim protecting “stand your ground” law here in Texas, but it doesn’t protect you if you provoked the altercation.
