I have the puma sts and fish Toledo bend. The seats are about 12" high. I use to have a puma ftd which was same hull as the cougar. The ftd seats were higher probably around 14". I'm 6' and have plenty room at console. I can stand up between seat and steering wheel. Foot pedal distance is good.
The puma sts drafts much more shallow than the ftd did. I hardly ever get on a stump with it. Once I forgot to put the plug in and water never got in the cockpit which tells me even with bilge full of water boat still drafted shallow. It's a guess but I've probably been in water 15" deep. Had to pull trolling motor all the way up and still have prop in water and didn't drag the ground.

    Hi Zeb

I dont notice a difference to be honest; the cat definitely isnt smaller nor does it feel like i sit any lower. I am 6'. Plenty of room to easily control the hotfoot, i dont find that my knees are above my hips or anything. i can stretch both legs and touch the cooler or put my left foot between the hotfoot and the cooler. as far as feeling comfortable, certainly feels that way. Steering wheel is great, at first it feels different. view over the bow is great, no issues there especially on plane.

Possibly.....but there are so many factors to consider when talking hull to hull. From what I have seen from both hulls, I believe both are very similar when it comes to hydrodynamics. The Caracal being a deeper hull, IMO, is less aerodynamic than the Puma. I really think both are so close, it would depend on load, HP, and driver ability as to which one is faster. If the new Lynx STS is a lighter layup, I think it might be the fastest STS hull.

We don't expect the Lynx STS to be faster, because the grillage is similar in weigh on the deck assembly. Early a a staff member was quoted as saying it would be about 150 pounds lighter, though that is not factual. Weights are very similar, and the large storage arrangement in the middle is going to give users the ability to overload the front of the boat. We actually think that most Lynx STS models will be slightly slower due to that variable tackle storage situation. If one watches the tackle distribution in the storages, then it could also be fractionally faster, in decimal points.

Yeah, I based my comments off of the earlier reports of the Lynx being a little lighter layup.

I run a 2023 Caracal with a 4 stroke on it. (NON STS HULL)
Will float in inches of water and can run 5 footers at Lake Erie at mid 40s mph all day!!!!!
Its wide and has soooooo much storage in it!!
Would recommend it to anyone looking for a sub 20 foot model
And it will flat cook when you need it too
