Great finish for that young man. It’s all about the winner and he earned the spotlight.

Jacob was not gonna get his fish in before time expired , so it getting off was not really an issue . What a great finish !!

Jacob had no idea that lawrence just caught that fish...maybe he would have ratcheted that smallie in even faster...that finish is good for the sport...but they missed a great reaction when Jacob found out he lost..

I too would like to see Wheelers reaction to find out he just lost in the last seconds.

I don’t know I’ve been on social media and seen his interviews since it finished chill and normal as could be. It’s not like it’s the first time he’s lost as the last second? I mean… Happened not to long ago with Bobby Lane as I can recall. Why they didn’t show it? To protect Jacob Wheeler? That is insane. Protect a guy who is constantly around the lead - haha you can’t be less successful if you think that guy needs protection.

watching it live - he looked pretty locked up that he didn’t get that last fish in… I don’t think he had an update but he was clearly hustling it to the boat.

i don’t know how you don’t show that as part of the overall production? I mean I just don’t feel the need to buy into a bash of we’re not going to show Jacob Wheeler getting beat on camera - feel like they are pretty consistent in focusing on the anglers who win and leaving everyone else in the shadows. But we needed to see that.

Watching the end...I personally think the cameramen in both boats were done for the day about 40 seconds early. Seems like they weren't ready for a last cast showdown.

He handled that well. I would say that the Jacob Wheeler that we used to badmouth for being a big baby is gone. The new Wheeler has matured. It happens to a lot of us. Hats off to Jacob. Class act.

U should watch Brian Latimers video about the old school pros and the no information rule. U might think differently about the subject. To sum it up , he basically said that a lot of the old school pros had a legion of guides and other local fisherman gathering waypoints and lake information at any time. There was also a rumor that strike king was one of biggest groups of fisherman/guides that was involved in this.

Yeah? Tell that to Denny Brauer and JVD hitting the same spot at the same time after waypoints were screwed up.

Just getting around to posting after watching it yesterday. Wheeler was in kill mode and almost made it work. Insane finish by Lawrence. That was must see tv.
