    Comparing Sanders To Tomlin

Everyone is talking about Deion Sander's son falling so far in the draft, with all the talk about racism or other conspiracy theories behind this. I just saw that Mike Tomlin's son signed as an undrafted free agent with I believe the Jaguars. Shedeur Sanders was obviously a much higher-rated prospect, but it also shows the difference between the whole Sanders family media circus and the Tomlin approach where you never even heard about his son nor did his team offer him a contract. Deion Sanders has no one to blame except himself for his son's position.

One is the greatest cover corner ever, a good CFB coach, and probably not the best agent. I think the other is a good coach who needs a change of scenery. Just my opinion.

The ol' man was his downfall with meddling with the son's career.

How about lack of talent. That’s where I would start.

Yea I think Deion really hurt his son in this situation and should have relied on an agent to advise and get his representation for the draft.

What are you trying to say, without saying it is what I'm asking you?

Again, I'm not sure I follow you but here goes. Everyone wonders why Shedeur Sanders dropped so badly in the draft. If you listen to everything that is being said regarding this situation, people are placing a lot of the blame on Deion Sanders for getting too involved and talking too much during the draft process. Shedeur may have graded out better than some other players talent-wise, but teams didn't want to take on the media circus surrounding Shedeur and have his Dad weighing in on everything the team does. They didn't believe that his talent and potential justified the risk of all these distractions. Mike Tomlin, on the other hand also had a son trying to get drafted, but you never heard a word about his son and the Steelers didn't even offer him an UDFA deal. A guy like Tomlin is all business and Deion has to be a showman all the time. It would appear that this came back to bite him as it probably hurt his son's chances. This is even further evidenced by his other son, Shilo, who basically dropped Deion and hired another agent to take his Dad out of the equation. Based on talent alone, Shedeur would have been better off if his Dad was just an ordinary guy.

Agree. Long time Steeler fan and I think Tomlin is a class act. Deion Sanders -- no class , at least in this situation.

I understand some of the thought process.... but to me it would be better for the teams to say what the real issue was rather than us on chair quarterbacks jump to conclusions about the young man's future. I didn't not think the young Sanders was a great quarterback, but I didn't see, in my opinion, any great college quarterback play this year.sHowever, I don't think it's totally accurate to say Deion is the cause of where his son was drafted. I remember guys like Archie Manning and Jack Elway advocating for the sons when it came to be drafted. True, both John Elway and Eli Manning are better quarterbacks than Shedeur Sanders has proven himself to be.
Now, on the other hand, Deion Sanders is in the top 1% of all cornerbacks to play the game. He's one of the best ever to suit up. However, he doesn't play anymore and has been retired for years. The comparison between he and Tomlin is as far away as possible. I don't even know whether Tomlin ever played pro ball.
Deion has always been unapoligetic about his game and he had the skills to back it up. Tomlin, probably not so much. However, I'm holding no fault to Deion for advocating for his son. As fathers is that what we're supposed to do? It just so happens Deion was on another level as a player and of course, with his ability to attract the media, he is going to have a camera put in his face.
Thing is: It's a sorry frog that won't croak in his own pond or for his tadpoles.

Sorry for eating so much of your time.

31 teams passed on every player drafted. Why should they have to make a statement as to why they passed on one player.

Amen. It’s a special kind of entitlement to think we [“the world”] are owed a full, detailed explanation for every action or inaction. Get over it.

That was my initial reaction too. Racism? How many non-white players were choses in this year's draft? The days of a team choosing a white player based on skin color ended back when teams decided it was more important to win.
