No need to get ugly about it...

Heat and air people are doing their thing on the new build next door. The last one to show up parked his van in front of the driveway blocking me in. I walk outside and one guy sees me and immediately knows what the deal is by saying he'll tell the other guy to move. The at fault walks down with his head down and I point and ask him if he realized that was a driveway and he says "i didn't know you wuz gonn have ta move no need to get ugly about it". I wanted to really grill him about his stupidity but didn't feel like losing an argument with a dumbass today. What did this idiot think was going to happen after blocking a driveway with a truck backed in it?He moved his van into the driveway of another neighbors house but they have a new 150+ yard concrete driveway they use now 99% of the time because they didn't want to chip in to help fix the rough gravel private road I'm required to let them use.

It's not that difficult to be preemptively considerate of others...

Some folks just prefer doing things the hard way.

Tell them the cream cheese is on sale down at the corner store.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

    Hi Mike.

I would tell him that he has now cut into your guide trip and being on time to meet your clients, and he will now have to pay a detention fee of half of the guided trip, $300. Tell him your brother is a lawyer and will gladly accept a civil suit if he declines to pay. Word will get around and that should be the last time you get blocked into your driveway.

Should have called a tow truck, then passive-aggressively stood in your driveway with a cup of coffee watching the van get towed away without muttering a word. That is the BBC way.

The nice thing would have been to have waited patiently all day until he got through working and drove away. Then you could go wherever you needed to. That is what Beavis and Buttheads hippy teacher would advise. Or you could handle it like their coach would

I’ve had run ins with contractors before…. I don’t understand their logic…. I get it they’re trying to do a job but man they do some boneheaded inconsiderate things sometimes…. Maybe it was his young helper/apprentice that parked it? Young kids nowadays seem to get dumber and dumber or just less and less common sense….

There is just less common sense these days. Had to deal with this kind of issue with a moving company last year.

Exactly, per the contractor attitude. I don’t get it either. It’s like we should appreciate their presence in our neighborhood, like they’re doing a public service by showing up [and blocking our drive]. My nearest neighbor is 300 yards away and I’ve *still* had contractors block my driveway. And when I pointed out that I’d like to get in and out, basically it was “no need to get ugly.”

Probably the best darn contractor on the streets. Out there 300+ days a year. And a decorated vet too.

That's a tough act to follow for sure. That one will never be forgotten and now when I need a laugh I think of the cream cheese rant.
