    Bay Springs, Anyone been lately?

Anybody been down there lately? What's the water temp if so?

I went fishing there today. The water temp was around 48 on my hummingbird depthfinder. I fished from 12 to 4 and didn't even get a bite. I was fishing with spinnerbaits, jig and pigs, grubs and even tried catfishing with worms. I talked to a couple of other boaters and none of them were catching anything either.

Dang. That sounds like the Bay Springs that I get when the tournament rolls around. I won a club tourney there two years ago with 3 bass, 2.9lbs total. Crazy!! But I have seen the 17-18lb sacks come in. 48 degrees is still cool. Those fish spawn super early down there. Have you noticed that?

Sorry to hear you couldn't fish. Bummer. I would take 11lbs anyday at Bay Springs. I can't wait to try some swimbaits down there this year.

Fished the tennessee tombigbee waterway today between burnsville and bay springs. Caught one bass all day about 10 feet off the rocks. It was in about 8 feet of water. I caught it on a firetiger crankbait. The temps in the spillways were around 50.

I just got my boat last summer so this will be the first year I really get a chance to learn bay springs. I did manage to catch some 2 1/2 pound crappie there last year. All the bass I caught there last year were either spawning or in shallow water. I'm really hoping to learn to use crankbaits this year. I've never had much luck catching bass in deeper water.

I got up at 530 this morning to go fishing and decided to drive to bass pro shops to wait out the rain. Picked up a new xps extreme rod and reel. I'm glad I don't live any closer or I'd probably be in there everyday

just make sure and watch the bouys! be safe out there it can be dangerous there. i would almost bet you 100$ that all the fish that was caught where caught on a shakey head greenpumpkin color thats all the guys in my club fish with.

I learned that the hard way last year. I drove up the waterway from burnsville and when I got to crows neck I ran into about 2 foot of water and almost got stuck. I was really lucky I didn't hit a stump. I learned to slow down real fast after that.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try the shakey head next time. My go to bait has always been a green chartreuse grub with a jig spinner on it. I would have used it this weekend but I've been trying to learn how to use a crankbait.

I know Bay Springs has some quality fishing. I have seen to many 20lb. sacks come out of there. What is real impressive is that some of those sacks will be nothing but spotted bass. There are some definite studs in there. Try throwing a lc pointer or a rogue.......everytime I hear of good stringers, that seems to be the ticket.

I vaguely remember telling you Poeman to follow the buoys. It is dangerous in front of Crows neck. I've heard numerous motors get real high pitch right there.

I'll tell ya, if I get one foot outside those buoys, I slow WAY down. We're going in the morning. Tried it one morning last week and didn't get a bite. Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow. We are going to Saucer Creek and Beaver Lake.

Re: Bay Springs, Anyone been lately? (TennesseeBandit)

I just got off the lake and drove home to Oxford. A 5lb spot was caught by one or our club members yesterday. There was a Mountain Dew tournament today. We practiced for our tournament that will be on March 9th. Water temp was 46.3 degrees by the dam and a little warmer in the shallow coves in the west and north. I do not think the fish were biting today. We only had two bites bewteen me and my partner and we fished it hard like we were in a tournament, but we fished shallow, deep, fast, slow, everything we could think of we did. It was a great day for fishing, but the biting sucked.

I can't seem to catch any fish anywhere around here. Tried fishing goat island today and caught one 2lb striped bass in 3 hours. We tried trolling for crappie with no luck and we fished shallow and deep for bass. It was .

Going to try mill creek tomorrow. I've only managed to catch two fish in the last three trips and my buddy still hasn't caught one. let us catch a mess of fish tomorrow.

They were obviously biting for someone. I think close to 20 lbs. won the Mt. Dew.

I fished the Mt. Dew, and made the run to yellow creek. We caught a small limit around 11 1/2lbs. I didn't see any of the top finishers around us. My guess is the pond levee and a few locked down to catch some of those sacks.
