I don't know if the sky is falling or not. I do know that a lot more fish are being caught that otherwise wouls not be. How does that play into the future of a fishery? I do not know. All natural resources are limited. It will take a few more years of studies I assume.

I do when it’s pointed out…I know I’d never see it on my own. Wouldn’t even be looking in that depth. Definitely would be in perspective mode if I was.

we hear FFS is a tool and that's it, it is far more than a tool. without it, welcher would not have caught what he caught, a tool will assist, ffs allowed him to catch the weight that he did. to me a tool would be my rod, reel, not an electronic device this far advanced. I do not understand why people get offended by it. If it is was a tool, not everyone would be getting it and we wouldn't be seeing what we are seeing. It is a definite game changer and an advantage on the fish. Every pro has it and they all but a few use it to their disposal against each other. some are just better at than others. However, a guy still needs to locate fish and that means he needs to understand bass behavior. I mean you could ffs the channel of the James river all you want but you going to find a bass there. But we must be honest and call it what it is. FFS in this tournament for 100% fact allowed him to catch 118 lbs. evryone of those fish he saw on screen and casted to them. period. right or wrong? I am not the judge of that

I will say this, I believe that a lot of great fisheries were because some fish never got caught and could live and spawn in peace. with ffs there are lot more fish caught and moved around and disrupted than ever before. Again, right or wrong that is what is happening. Nature is a natural resource, it does not replenish like other resources. It can't be produced and restocked at the rate that it would need to be to continue to give. Think about deer hunting. You could kill every doe on your property in one season, I promise you it will be several years before they bounce back. Spawn tourments have always been debated and now with ffs, I think the debate will end with the results in the near future. If ffs is your thing then have it, but only time will tell what it will do to a fishery. I guess we will see in a few years
You make it sound like they are killing these bass.

I think in a few years we will know for sure. Even more spawners will be caught now and I am anxious about that. I have always been on the fence about catching spawners and carrying them away. I just don't have enough info on the effect of it.

Weather, water level fluctuation and habitat, effect spawning success more than any tournament/pleasure fisherman ever will.

In a few years we will know? It's been out since 2018. 7 years the technology has been used daily.

How many more years do you need to know??

so you think 7 years is long enough? in 2018 not many had it, in the last 3 years many more have it and many more will have sooner. then we will see

Absolutely not. The weights would have not been that high. these guys were sight fishing with FFS. No way to sight fish in this tea colored water. These guys (atleast Welcher) was specifically targeting the big females standing off away from the beds.

They are killing bass. Not the spawners but as soon as they pull the fish off the bed, the panfish come in and feast. It has always happened during tournaments but enough bedding fish in the deeper waters were protected enough from sight fishing that it didn't have that much of an effect. With this technology, no bedding bass is safe. I think they'll need to adopt something similar to Major League Fishing where the fish are immediately released. Of course, that would mean, they would need to do something to create drama in place of the weigh in.

There has been no drama at 3 of the weigh ins this year , 2 of them was over on day 3 and the classic was basically a blowout also ! There guys that are in the hunt to win at BASS is less than half the field , most if we are honest aren’t in the hunt !

I don’t think it would have been the same weight. From what I understand he was using ffs - the perspective mode to see bedding bass on his screen. I don’t think he would have seen all those fish with out it. Especially that water color.

yep and kicked everyones butt.. 3 day record.. i worded my comment wrong.. people are still always saying if your not in 7ft plus water its not effective.. some say it does help for seeing stumps/grass but not seeing fish.. While it looked hard as all get out. Yes it helped his weight tremendously
