I talked to a guy at the ramp that backs his boat down the ramp until it partially floats, then he deploys his PP and slowly pull out. He said he has been doing this for years and has not had any issues with poles or pumps.
Does anyone else do this??
It seems that there is a lot of pressure/force being put on the poles/pumps over time.
One of the things they are ment for, why is there alot of pressure force being put on the poles pumps? Its what they were designed to do. i do not know many that do not do this
I did it with my talons on old boat and power poles on new boat. That’s one of the best benefits of either one.

I have been using the rope tied to boat, when boat floats off I deploy PP and unhook rope. Next time I will try deploy PP when boat starts to float and pull out.
no ropes needed when have powerpoles your not utalizing one of the best things about them , throw that rope away ans stop getting out of your truck cut your launching time in half.Originally Posted by Bjxds

Iv been doing this for years as well. I cant tell you the last time I used a rope for launch.

Are you guys launching on ramps that have docks along the sides? If not I am having a hard time picturing how you are getting to the boat with out a rope to pull it in. Most of the places I launch from are separate from the ramp area. This method also reminds me of the guy I watched launch his boat and used his ulterra trolling motor to hold it and bring the boat to the dock. The boat slid off the trailer, his remote didn't deploy and the boat floated away. I had to retrieve it for him. I don't trust remote blue tooths with out a back up.
There is no boat dock where I lauch, but there is a bulk head. I back in far enough to where the boat almost floats off the trailer. I then lower my poles, hop in, crank motor, raise poles, drive off then park on ramp when feasible.

I don't want to get in the habit of doing that because I know the day will come that the poles don't deploy and the boat floats off. Not to mention you would be blocking the ramp while you park your truck. I just back it in, climb in the bed of the truck, unhook the boat, get on it and back it off, then park it and put the poles down where it isn't blocking the ramp.

I definitely wouldn't recommend floating the boat and hoping your poles go down. I start to lower mine as soon as the lower unit touches the water. Iv been doing it that way since the start of the c monster 1 pump never had an issue. Maybe iv been lucky.
Im fortunate enough to have a private ramp where I can usually park on it. Not always, but most of the time. I definitely wouldn't recommend parking on a public ramp. Someone would probably cuss you out

By the time you unhook, get in your boat, dock it and go back to your truck the time to just leave the boat on the ramp is way shorter. It just looks worse to people.
You guys are putting a lot of faith into bluetooth and battery life. Its not if its when. I got into the habit of power pole down when docking the boat to get out and go get the truck. Well one day one pole didn't not function properly and when i came back to get in boat the nose swung around and I had to get someone to bring me to the boat.
I always hit mine down once before launching to check function never had a issue

same amount of pressure and force is keeping them up. Using the pumps in such short intervals is not a big deal.

So the question of how to get in the boat, that is anchored at least 5-6 feet off the bank, without getting wet hasn’t been answered.
I have backed in at a few ramps where I could walk to the trick steps, walk up into the boat, back up along side a dock, then PP the boat next to the dock. But, even that is a rarity. I usually beach the boat next to the ramp and PP it on the bank, while I park my truck. That’s the most efficient way without jeopardizing a $100,000 boat. As for time, it isn’t an inconvenient amount of time for someone to wait. 45seconds to a minute.
i do my part to speed things up by having my boat 100% ready to launch, BEFORE I back onto the ramp. I also know exactly how to back my trailer onto a ramp. No jiggin back in forth and side to side. I get there, unload, then move the truck. Usually far faster than most guys that “do it a lot”.
why would your boat be 5 to 6 feet off the dock? I can back in let it ease off and push the remote in my truck and the boat is no more then 16 inches from the dock your power poles do not extend 5 to 6 feet from the side of the boat.
been doing this for years without any issue. Shallow boat ramp with dock on the side. Just back in close to the dock, use the remote and double check for function before launching and then slowly let the boat slide off and deploy the poles. Never had an issue.
