    Waveland fish kill

Was told that the DNR has determined that last summers fish kill was caused by ag runoff and not summer heat ( duhhhhhhhhhh!!!) Don't know if it's true or if anyone was cited but I intend to find out.

4/7 Midwest Sportsman T only had 1 limit weighed and 4 out of 12 boats blanked I believe. I was wrong, I predicted 3 years before they'd screw up the best fishing in the state, only took them 1

It's not true and no one has been cited, or at least the DNR sure isn't blaming ag runoff. In fact they say it is rather unlikely. They still don't know 100% what the cause was but fish were sent to Purdue for testing and came back inconclusive. They were looking for LMBV.

I agree it is a shame though because that was shaping up as one great fishery. Still they've had a 4.58 and a 3.67 as big fish which isn't too far off normal for Waveland, so they're not all gone.

    Re: Waveland fish kill (Team9nine)

Talked to the guy the story supposedly came from, said all he had were rumors. A lot of thought that there may have been a private weed kill attempt but who knows? I had a 5 1/2 out of there 2 springs ago and a truckload of 2 1/2's last spring, a lot of 6's produced when that lake was new in the 70's and looked like it was going there again. I got one keeper today and about 8 short fish, not a good bite. Lots of filamentatious algae in the water, that new addition on the west side will only add to the nutrient load I'm afraid but we'll hope for the best. Sure some big bluegill coming out of there
