2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.
Harley Davidson, made in the USA. Nice looking motorcycles but if you want longevity unfortunately Japanese is better. Same with cars, trucks and outboards. Hard to beat Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki. For the record I have a 2022 Mercury 225 with only 38 hours on it. No problems with the Mercury but if I had the choice when I bought my boat it would have been a Yamaha. All my Japanese cars, trucks, dirtbikes, street bikes, jetskis have never let me down. Even the HPDI’s and OX66 motors were great and never left me stranded. Added bonus, ***if you haven’t heard yet, you can flash the Yamaha***![]()

Not a popular opinion, but a 250 SHO is faster than a 250 ProXS, and I have each on the same hull, 2016 BassCat Puma/SHO vs. a 2022 BassCat Cougar/Pro XS.

I've got a 2021 BassCat, I repowered this fall with a new SHO, I had a 250 Merc ProXS with 340 hours. My only real complaint with the mercury is the price to replace the lower unit, 11K. I hit an underwater mountain top on Lake Powell and knocked a big hole in the first one, insurance replaced it. The second factory new lower cracked at the top of the rear ring, Mercury eventually warrantied it after several months. I was going out of warranty this spring and didn't want to face an 11K problem if I lost the next one. I think the SHO pulls harder down the lake as well.
Sho is a better performing engine
Recently purchased a new boat and had the option of both motors. I liked both but went with the Merc due to it not requiring higher octane fuel.

Seems like I know more people with yamaha's having issues than Mercury. And far more mercury's down here. But this is just me reading and talking to people.
