I don’t know Matt, and I’m ambivalent about the whole deal. There apparently are guys on the Elites who’ve received info for years, doesn’t seem to be a huge secret.

Whole deal just seems weird. How many guys on the Elites? 103? They “randomly” pick two guys, and find out one of the two received some kind of information.

And the guy he got info from isn’t a random person, his son not only knows the rules, he’s tied in with a major tackle company. Now Matt’s quit the Elites to fish NPFL.

Sounds like the whole story hasn’t come out, and it probably never will.

It is unbelievably crazy!! I don't know Matt myself. But I heard they (BASS) are picking numbers of how guys finished to polygraph. They are supposed to be doing this all of this season. This tournament it was 25 and 40. We'll see how this unfolds during the season and what numbers/ who gets polygraphed in the upcoming events.

My take is the anglers were pretty outspoken as a very large majority in that they want a strict no-info rule in place. We as specatators question it's enforce-ability, but that is irregardless. The competitors want it. And they want it for the exact circumstance that seems to have just happened, an angler received info with the exact type of information they dont want shared against them (the rest of the field). I don't know much about and never really followed Matt's pro career, but it seems to me like a consummate pro would know the rules and wouldn't engage in a conversation about his practice with a non-competitor, regardless of who that person is.

I am surprised he is not appealing the decision and just quitting instead. Maybe there is more to the story. His video he posted today made it sound like he has been looking for an excuse to leave anyways. The BBC crew will figure it all out and fill us in.

Just an observation that typically holds true....Nothing says "there is more to the story" then not appealing and quitting. Did someone pull the trails on the graphs (prior to or immediately after the poly) and verify he did not go to that creek? I am sure we will never know the truth to that. But nothing clears your name on using information in regards to an area quicker then an unaltered GPS trail.

You mean like Avena did then Poche just cried and whined and never showed any proof of what he was talking about. Then tried to double down and apologize but “standing for what’s right.” Seems to me like the pro tours are more like a daycare than a professional event. Really is sad how organizations handle things

i had the same thought driving in to work this morning while listening to BTL. Very well could have been the difference between the Opens angler getting a 4k penalty and Herren being DQ’d. but we don’t know and it shouldn’t be taken as fact though

Or maybe he is just tired of the BS. As stated multiple times already there were several infractions that were not penalized, some repeat offenders.

Herren has been outspoken, just like Watson. The new kids running BASS probably want 0 push back from anyone, especially the older guys. They obviously have their favorites and Matt isn't one of them.

    What a complete chit show!

Pretty comical however that one young poster boy for the BASS brand seems to always find himself in these conversations. And his age or rookie year should/do no longer apply.

    That should say something!

My neighbor reported me to the HOA for keeping a crappie in our hood when we weren't supposed to. Got my key fob cut off for 2 days to the pool.

That poster boy got DQ’ed for taking time info from his mom which cost him AOY. He then owned it and kept fishing.

For running a no wake zone during practice not even on a tournament day? I think not. At least that's what SK implied.

Ahh ok thought he might have been referring to this

A no wake zone is a no wake zone even on practice days.
