I have never been to Eufal but going towards the end of the month. What can I expect as far as water temp/color, color styles of baits? Thanks for the advice!

Tex... me too.
got a club tourny on March 31st thru April 1st.. and I have fished there several times before, just looking for some info, Water Temps, Fish moving up? On the beds yet? etc.
I know this for a fact.. if you can find a Bandit 200 Chart/Blue back Crankbait you should have some success with that.. Used it last year down there about this time and we caught 22 the first day and 14 the 2nd..
Here is the Bait Link.

and a side note.. got about a 2lb Crappie and a Nice size Pickerel on the same bait...![]()

Fished it this weekend. Water is heavy stain up north (Bluff creek) and it clears as you move south toward the dam. Temp varies right now around 62-66. This week we're supposed to have warm nights and 70* days so it should come up fast. If you're coming at the end of this month, you should hit it right. As far baits, the topwater bite should be on. You can always catch fish on the ledges. I would start in the backs of creeks and spawning coves and work my way back. I caught some better fish on crankbaits. Most were relating close to wood. Send me an IM as you get closer and I'll probably have some better info.
Hogman...IM sent to you. What colors work best there for plastics, cranks, etc?

Now I say this with a grain of salt, but last year besides the Crankbait I told you about above.. we used Watermelon Seed, And a Key lime pie worm/lizard and had good success...

Chartreuse/Blue and Citrus shad should both be decent colors. Dont forget the Rootbeer/Chartreuse Bandits either. As for plastics, Watermelon and Green Pumpkin are usually the most popular. Good back-ups would be Kudzu or Watermelon Candy, both are similar. I never used the key lime pie on Eufaula but could work. Spots are 12" limit and LM are 14". I'll be fishing down there again this weekend so I'll let you know.
We fished last weekend and caught them on spinnerbaits 3/8 terminators w/ gold blades and 1/2 black and blue jigs flipping grass beds just south of Lakepoint. Fish seemed to have moved up pretty shallow. Saw alot of gators sunning and the biggest cottonmouth I have ever seen balled up in a bush in a grass bed below the causeway. I hope this helps. - Jimmy
Yea ... GATORs are all over down there.. See them every year.

Just don't blame it on me when the bill comes. The gators aren't bad but you do need to watch for them when running WOT, especially early morning and evening.
yea... we saw a lot last year, and fished a few creeks up northend.. but when your in a creek only twice as wide as your boat and see 50 Gators.. It makes you uneasy. But will be down there this Thursday for our 2 day.. Cant wait.. getting ansy. I will check back in a few days to see if anyone has word on the water.

Outcast you have IM.
Just got back this evening from 3 days there. Man I am glad I did not take my boat there! It was good to see where to run while in someone elses boat. Saturday morning we launched at Lakepoint and worked out way upriver. Coming back to Lakepoint, my buddy ran that Skeeter all out, and when we got back I was grinning, he asked me what for and I said "I felt like I just qualified with Michael Schumacher in his F1 car on a road course" cause of how you have to follow the channel markers. Great looking lake, but with the bluebird skies, and obviously they have spwaned out, it was tough fishing.

I replied...
but getting conflicting info... the old club I was in last year was just down there over the weekend and most had a good tourny.. It was won w/21Lbs.. they said the locals told them the fish started to bed then the last cold front pushed they back ... and they are just now moving back in. So I hope I can figure them out, I will know by Thur Morning if there is a chance.
Yea you have to watch yourself on Eufaula.. and some channel markers are not there to go between.. some you have to Zig Zag to and from to stay in the channel..
Well got 3 days of work to get thru so I can HOOK UP and GO.. man I got the itch!!![]()

I fished the river north of Eufaula this weekend. I'll be able to tell you what isn't working up there. Most fishing was done around River Bend trying to find bedded fish. The water is heavily stained and I couldn't find a bed. The water temp was 64 at 8am and 69 by 1pm in the spawning areas. I talked to 4 other guys that I know well and they said the same thing. I did catch one small fish on a slow rolled buzzbait. If I was fishing a tournament this weekend on Eufaula, I would try to find cleaner water south of Lakepoint. I don't see the north end clearing up enough by Saturday. I was thinking about driving down there but not at $2.50 a gallon. I figured fish are in the water, why drive another 45 minutes. I was wrong.
thanks HOGMAN..
We will fish down by WHITE OAK for sure.. we have 2 holes there that really produced last year, I just hope they are still on this year, we are about 2 weeks later than we were last year. I heard the water was really stained also at Lakepoint and north of there.
Again thanks for the info.. if you hear anymore I will be online till Thur. Night after that will be w/o internet till Sunday evening when I get home.

Im heading down Sat morning for a 3 day trip.... Hows the bite doing now?
Haven't been down in about two weeks. I've been pre-fishing another lake lately. I'll probably fish the river on Sunday but that won't help if you're going down this weekend. Get the Columbus, Georgia newspaper on Friday if you can. They usually have all of the local lakes fishing reports in it. If you're driving down from B'ham, you might as well drive the extra few minutes and fish the southern end. That's the best I can do for you now. Good luck.
