    Mobile Delta

    Date Fished: 10/29/2006
    Water Temperature: 68
    Water Clarity: 6 inches

Tough Day, is about all I can say. With high pressure dominating, no clouds, and no wind, it made for a slow day. We had a good turnout for the the first event of the year, 22 boaters and 2 non boaters showed up to fish today, and i believe two new members joined the ABA today, welcome. Now for the fishing, we started out with about a 30 minute fog delay, and even then it was a slow run to get to the first stop. It took 6.6 something to win today, yes that is 6 lbs! with 2nd going at 6.3, third and 4th were in the mid to upper 5s and that is a 5 fish limit. I ended the day in 9th place with 3 fish for 4.14, on a day when keepers were hard to come by, you can't afford to lose fish, as i lost two that would have given me my limit. I began the day down on the causeway, and did not get a single strike anywhere in the vicinty of the cause way. I then moved up to raft river /oak bayou, and caught a few keepers and a few shorts on plastics, I could not get a moving bait bite to save my life, so i stuck with plastics the rest of the day, around 1045 i put my third fish in the boat, and headed up river towards tensaw lake, looking for a little bigger fish. I should have stayed put! Not one bite up river, threw c-baits, t-rig, jigs, spinnerbaits. So that was about my day. I did not here what others were throwing, but would assume most fish were caught on plastics, or some folks may have gotten on a topwater bite first thing tis AM. So all in all it was a very tough day for all anglers, and i would say i learned a lesson (again) here, worry about a limit first before trying to catch bigger fish! ABA runs out of Cliffs landing the last sunday of every month.

    Water Temperature: 66
    Water Clarity: 6 inches

Headed out to the delta this morning to get some fishing in before this front moves through. Figured it would be a prime time to get on some fish. Well it was far from it. I managed three fish from 730 to 1200, Those three would have weighed right around 4 lbs. No size at all. I got all three on black lizards down in oak bayou and surrounding creeks. I left just as the wind really started to pick up, and the temperature started dropping, I should have stayed, cause that probably turned the bite on, but decided to head home. I will try again tomorrow, I am sure with the post frontal conditons it will be tuff again. Water clarity today absolutely sucked, mud every where. At best was around 4-6 inches. I tried crankbaits, spinner baits, trickworms, frogs, senkos, and lizards and all my hits came from the lizards. I will post a report for what i find tomorrow.

    Water Clarity: 1 foot

Got out this morning to a very chilly start , it was 40 at 0630. Decided to go back through a couple areas I fished yesterday as well as some new areas. The creeks were still pretty muddied up, but the further back you go the clearer they got. I managed to get 5 today with 4 being keepers, I was off the water by 1115. All fish today came on crankbaits, specifically a LuckyCraft RC 1.5, in crawfish color. The 4 keepers would ahve went around 7.5 lbs. I was targetin small feeder creeks and working any wood or laydowns i could find. I tried to picksome up with a jig, and also some lizards as i did yesterday, but today the moving bait was working and not the other, exact opposite of yesterday for me. Water temps are getting good for upcoming crankbaits and jig season, I an loking forward to it. Also the presentation today had to be slow with a few pauses during the retrieve, they were hitt uring the pause with the crankbait. Good luck . I probably won't be back out till next weekend.

jay you left too early saturday because they turned on when the wind started blowing real bad, I think i seen you in oak bayou, I was in that skeeter, but whenever that north wind started pushing that water out of those creeks the fish turned on. TTYL

Man i knew I should have stayed, thought the weather was going turn worse then it did, I figured that the bite was about to turn on. Which skeeter were you in I believe I saw two of them yesterday, one was white and black I believe, and had three people in it?

yeah it had 3 folks in it, your basscat looks good man, we were catching alot of fish out of feeder ditches and laydowns, that north wind was moving that water out of those creeks real quick and the fish were biting good, we probaly caught around 15 or so with the biggest being around 3 pounds. I couldnt believe all the floaters that were in mobile river! I think right now the best bet is to find clean water and you oughtta catch some good fish. Hey man pm me when you get a chance, I want to get some info on those basscats. cya, Ryne

    Re: Mobile Delta (TripleDeuce)

Hey there feel free to call me, 251-776-7086 (house) or 912-308-5013 (cell) cell does not get any coverage at the house.

I left there before the wind started to pick up and there was virtually no current, up to that point even with the outgoing tide. Today there was some water movement in the AM and that seem to have helped a little. So were you out on a fun trip yesterday or were you on a guide trip? You put in at Cliffs right?
