Is it worth the money from a Revo s to an sx or to stx or premier? I have some revo s's , would I be better off having them super tuned or up grading? If better to upgrade which one is worth the extra money?

What are you using the for? If you like them and are satisfied, get them cleaned and throw a set of spool bearings in them.![]()
Then take the money you saved and go on a fishing trip.![]()
I got 12 or so revo Ss and a couple sx and i would say i like the s better
I have 1 S, probably 4 SX's, 1 STX, and 1 Premier. The S and the STX are the oldest of the lot, probably the first generation. All of them are excellent reels.
I have never had an issue with the S. The year I bought it I used it about 6hrs per day for a whole week throwing spinnerbaits.
The thumb bar on a couple of SX's is starting to make a "CLACK" sound when pressed as opposed to a gentle "click". Not sure what the deal is here, but I'm not impressed.
The STX is starting to sound a bit gritty, but it probably just needs to be pulled apart, cleaned a lubed. You can pitch a t-rig 30' with very little effort.
I've used the Premier for square bills and mat punching. It casts beautifully, weighs almost nothing, and is very comfortable to crank all day. Currently I have it mounted on a Dobyns 766 for flipping.
The best of the whole lot is the Premier, but at $280 it darn well better be. If you have the money or just want a light powerful reel for your flippin stick, this is the one.
The STX has a good rep and I've never had an issue with mine. It will see much more action this summer since I'm moving things around. If you want a good general pupose reel, the STX is it.
The S is a great reel for the money. Very tough to beat at the $130 price point.
As far as the SX goes, I wouldn't bother. They are the same price point as the new Chronarch. The new Chronarch (or the the old Curado E) is a much better reel at the $200 mark.
Hope that helps.
The S is a solid reel. The one fault I have with mine is it will not cast light lures nearly as good as a Curado or Chronarch. For heavier baits like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, big jigs or C-Rigs it does great and is very smooth and strong. Anything 3/16 or lighter and it becomes problematic to cast. Part of that may be the ultra stiff Veritas rod it is on.
If you want to upgrade, get the STX. I think it's the best revo(excluding the mgx, haven't used one). It does everything well.
