I'm getting ready to build a fluid bed for powder paint. Is this a good way?

Looking for a better size, design, or ideas ?

What size aquarium air pump is the best bang for the buck? What other filter materials work best?

I didn't have luck with the coffee filters I use the white and blue USPO tear proof envelopes free from the uspo. For my base I used a 3 to 2 reducer glued down on a sheet of plexie glass and cut my 2 inch pipe about 4 inches with the filter between the 2 inch and reducer not glued just overlaped up the side. Got one for each color I use. I didn't use any theaded stuff. I got the pump from Walmart.

What do you think of this videos method? Please tell me if you think it wont work as well as others... This looks like the easiest to make for the lowest cost.

I think it will work fine, I just couldn't control the volcanos with the coffee filter I needed a little more micron so ended up with the envelope as I saw on tackle underground. The treaded stuff will work great I just don't think its needed unless you want to keep your powder in the cups, then his way would be better. Without the treaded will be cheaper.

Well... I just finished building one and using my airbrush compressor for now.. Even though I can control the pressure/volume down to "0", I'm getting a smoke cloud comming out while it's bubbling... Is this normal? Seems messy to me. I tried a lunch bag and 3 coffee filters with the same results...

    What did I tell you?
Go get the USPO white and blue tearproof envelope. It looks like tyvex suit material. That will really help.

Bubbling and volcanos are different. Bubbling doesn't shoot it up and out of the cup. Kinda like vomit and projectile vomit.

Best to go to Walmart and get a Small Aquarium pump..they put out very little that you can still regulate..ThatUSPS envelope trick sounds about perfect..

We have a few aquariums... I just robbed an air pump and it worked much better.. The fish were gulping the surface when I was done. J/K

I will be buying one soon enough.

PS: This design works awesome BTW.

Should I go with the smaller of the 3 pumps they have. I think it goes from 5-20, 10-30 and 30-60 on output as far as choices.

Get the middle or biggest one. Make sure you have an air regulator to control the air. Start OFF and turn it up to the powder "BUBBLES".
Forget paper bags and coffee filters... Use the TYVEC type FREE bags...They allow the air to flow thru perfect.

I just bought this pump for $13.99 at my local fish store. It works great and has the air adjustment built right on the top of the pump. It does not restrict air flow backing it up in the diaphram, It slows the diaphram speed. Making the pump last longer. Anyway... It works great on the fluid bed.

Try using your airbrush compressor build it up to 50 psi hang the jigs about 12" above the bed in a close tight group. Use a cutting torch to heat the head once you get them good and hot release the pressure can paint a bunch at one time. I wouldn't do this in the house or without a OSHA approved MASK GOGGLES AND GLOVES!!!

Sorry had to say that!! I know from experience what happens you have tooooooo high of pressure all at once you power coat your ceiling!! No i did not do it but seen it done.
Listen to these guys the air pump will work and when you get the correct air flow and the correct filter all be good. A little difference in air flow makes a difference, but the filter will make a huge difference. I tried coffee filters, lunch bags, everything you can think of, I am gonna try the USPO thing haven't tried that one. I know a certain type of sweeper bag with the inner and outer filters was my best results, if i can find it i will get it on here for you.
