Low oil alarm.

Running lake Chic this past week. Friday I made a run from Grasshopper down to somewhere past Ware branch. Fished in there for about 2 hours, picked up and went to Soddy where I met my buddy. As soon as I got near the ramp I got a low oil alarm on the smartcraft. Checked the on engine tank and it's about a 1/3rd low. Checked my boat res and it had more than half but less than full. Tried the prime sequence with no luck,the engine tank didn't fill. I'm home now going over it. I have the lower cowling off and I've checked the tank can hold pressure and I can add a bicycle pump to the line from the check valve and it will fill the engine tank. I have the check valve out but unsure how to test it. Should I just throw another one on there?
What else can I check.
I am very mechanically inclined and would be able to remove or replace what is needed.
Please help.

It is the check valve under the starter. I have it removed and sitting on the back of the boat. If this check valve is good, are there any other culprits it could be I would be able to check?

Well, the new one that I bought from the local store, I can blow through it. So I assume this new one is no good?

Both ways?? If so then possibly. It is a pulse that is applied to the check valve when running so it might pass some air just blowing. Try blowing hard and see if it works. You want to blow on the hose side.

Had the same problem last year on a 2016 ProXS. I did replace the check valve while I had things apart, but the problem surfaced again and ended up being a clogged screen on the pick up tube in the big oil reservoir. There were small amounts of dirt that had accumulated from the funnel I was using to fill it over the years. I had to pull the tank and empty it, clean that tube and the screen on the bottom of it all with mineral spirits. I reassembled, and never had the issue again.

Should also EVER SO SLOWLY leak pressure back from the hose to the Crankcase (to relieve pressure on the system after shutdown).

Other potential items:

-Air leaks, loose caps, o-rings on caps, hose connections, restricted pickup tube screen in remote tank, kinked hoses, restricted filter inside the engine cowling.

can you tell me where to find this and I'll replace it as well. Unless this is on the side that requires the prime sequence from the dealer.
I pulled the boat mounted tank and found that it has some kind of gross gel like substance on the bottom of the pickup tube. Gonna go out on a limb and say that's most likely it. The bottom of the tank is pretty gross with the stuff as well. I used a funnel and some 60-80 micron filter media to check the DFI oil coming out of the tank. It clogged up the filters within a few pumps of the handle. Guess I need to add this to some type of bi-annual maintenance.

Just had this issue with my 2010 ProXS 250. Was a clogged inlet screen. Mechanic cleaned the tank and also replaced the check valve and now it holds pressure again and the alarm is not going off any more. He said the screen was very clogged.

Nope, no funnel. It has a deck fill on the back of a Phoenix.

I got the filter from the local Marine store and am going to swap that out today.

My friend just went thru this...it was a leaking hose from the deck fill.
He put a cap on the tank and all is good.

Does water make its way into the tank once the pressure bleeds off? Rain water?

I had a similar issue with mine. Found out the deck fill cap/spout where the hose attaches was cracked. Found it while running it and spraying soapy water on all the connection points. Local boat repair had a pile of good used tanks and sold me a used cap.

Update.
Replaced the check valve.
ran a mirror and light down the intake to check the reeds, those looked okay from what I could tell.
Replaced the filter below the engine mounted tank.
Pressure tested the tank via the check valve line from the block with a bicycle pump. Held air pressure.
Remove and clean the boat mounted tank.
Remove and clean the oil pickup tube.
Primed the system using Don's method in the FAQ section and it filled the engine mounted tank in less than a minute of running.

All seems to be working okay and moving oil as its supposed to.
