Reel Seat question

Looking at building my first rod and have a question. On Jan's Net Craft they have a reel seat http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/t....aspx

Is this pretty close to what they use on the carrot sticks?

How did u get the distance between the nut and rear set correct, just put a real on it? sorry for all the questions just want to get it right the first time

for these, you pretty much have to know what reel you will be using and put it on like you said. Bad part is, it won;t fit a reel of a different size. Not very universal. Now if you do not cut the threads off it gives it a bit more flexilility, but many builders do not think it looks as good. I am sure an actual builder (no me) will be along to add.

Yes, I basically put a reel on it to size it up; dchance is right if you are doing a custom build it is best to use the reel (or get the measurements) that is going to be used on it to give it a clean look and cut the threads down.
