    Hey Bill ,
Check out Batson for and MB 704 blank . Bill Batson visits our shop once or twice a year and has very reliable blanks . We don't buy all of our blanks from him but ya just can't go wrong on the Mag Bass Blanks . Not sure 'bout that reel seat but the new Fuji's are very comfortable .

Best of Luck . Send Pics !!!!

the 7' batson (rx7) would be the IMB 844.
it might be a bit stiff for yah though - i have one in the basement... try the 843.
if you're looking for the "ultimate" - i would look into a st. croix scv, loomis or batson rx8 in a mag bass taper with the same 3 or 4 power rating. A Batson RX7 makes a hell of a rod for the money however.

I have heard that the RX8 blank is pretty sweet
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

    Greetings...

There are a number of great blank manufacturers, so you have some choices. If you are fishing in some heavy cover, I'd go with the heavier blanks that I mention below. As for reel seats, I'm not sure where you'd pick up a Diawa seat, but I feel that the Fuji reel seats are the best on the market.

    GLoomis MB 843 / 844 IMX / GLX

    St. Croix LE 5C70MHF

    Rogue MB 704 / 705

I have not used the Batson blanks, but I did take a close look at a RX8 that another angler built and I was impressed. It would be a good choice, too.

    Good luck......George

    I'm with George,
I just built a GLX MB844 for Hawkdriver, that is a sweet jig rod.

The RX8's are sweet also, I have a few on the way right now.

I have several of the Gloomis 844 blanks both GLX and IMX. They make excellent jigging rods.

I have to agree though that all of the blanks given so far would make great choices. If you are building this on a budget then you can't go wrong with the RX-7 blanks.
