NCAA Playoff Ranking

This is what the expanded bracket would look like this year. I like how all of the ambiguity is removed.

Format rules:
*6 auto bids to highest ranked conference champs
*6 at-large bids to next highest ranked teams
*top 4 champs get byes
*5-8 seeds host on-campus 1st round games

The only thing that would change in that format is that Georgia would be playing Texas to get in and the bracket with Ole Miss , Ohio State and Washington would be a shootout to see who was going to be in the final four. The Missou, Oregon and Michigan side would be competitive also. Alabama would sleepwalk to the final four.

I can't wait until the final four has three or maybe all four teams from the SEC. The butthurt here is going to be epic. Having four byes in the playoffs is asinine. Should cap things at eight or open it up to 16.

What I don't get is all of the hate for Alabama.

I don't have any teams/schools that I hate.

That does not mean that there are not some teams I enjoy Alabama beating more than others. No surprise it is the teams the loudmouth guys tout. Their teams are always cheated by the refs, Bama has bought players, ( with NIL all can and/or do ) , they even stoop to disparaging coaches family members and fans with vulgar references. Total lack of class and a good indicator of lack of character.

There are no schools or teams that I dislike but there are a lot of obnoxious Alabama sidewalk fans that show a lack of class when their team gets lucky. Like you because of that there are some teams I like to see beat just to watch the reaction of their fans.

They beat Bama last year and I saw fans ready to burn couches and issue death threats because Bama got into the playoffs and they didn't. This was after they got embarrassed by a South Carolina team

It's funny you say that but I get torched every single time they lose but one thing always remains the same is that I'm here and a lot of the time I'm the only one that's here putting up with it...

I can only speak for me, I am upset by the current system, but I have been for a while.

I have no issue with Alabama getting in.

I also understand the it would be hard for the committee to include AL, while excluding Texas.

No matter what they did some fan base would feel slighted. Happens every year.

FSU got shafted this season.

What bothers me though, is the way this all happened.

FSU was #4 and won, but dropped to #5

Georgia fell from 1 to 6.

So they are saying FSU is better than GA, OSU and Oregon

If they were truly taking the 4 "best teams" shouldn't Georgia be in the conversation?

The committee has changed the narrative annually and that is the problem.

There needs to be a linier solution. If you do this, then you get that.....Play your way in, not the so called eye test.

For everyone saying FSU would lose to who ever, I ask this. If Washington was playing Georgia, who would you be an significant amount of money on?

2nd problem with this whole thing is that every other sport in the land has written qualifications to the post season where a team controls their destiny.

Why not football.

Back in the day we had rankings, bowl games and regional conferences.

Now we have an invitational.

Is this 4 game playoff better than the 2 team BCS? I think not.

Like I said before, I think they got it wrong, but that does not mean I think the 4 teams in are not deserving of the playoff birth.

It will be better next year because at least the "best" & "most deserving" teams will get in.

However their will still be polls, a committee and bias in place.

Personally I want to see both Alabama and Texas get destroyed in the play off and Washington beat Michigan for the championship.

I say this since nobody give WA a chance according to the poll on this board.

End of the day it is what it is and I have no skin in the game.

Basketball / Baseball not even kind of a comparison. I can find JUCO’s in Cali / Texas / Fl that will hurt a lot of teams feelings. They put two dismal performances while wins on tape with no chance of Travis returning. The rankings frankly don’t matter after 4 and FSU got probably if we’re being honest the 1 or 2 seed in a bowl. Did FSU deserve to be there, sure did. Did the committee fit the narrative to support their pick…yep. Did they get it mostly right? Yep, but WU should be replaced with Georgia.

Hes certainly improved but I think they taken some of his responsibility away...plus the line play has gotten much better so hes not hammered every play either while trying to figure out his reads...what folks were so used to out of Alabama the last few years had everyone so spoiled with QB play anything less than spectacular was gonna roll some eyes...JM has had some great moments but he's also had some that left folks thinking WTH even in the iron bowl...

At least if that was the case they wouldn't have to lie to our face and tell us they put the best 4 teams in. I'd still be unhappy about it, but at least they wouldn't be hypocritical, which is why most people think it's a joke.

It is supposed to be the team that is playing the best at the end. FSU can be bummed, but they did not get the shaft like some fans and their politicians are crying about (they are down to their 3rd string QB and the offense reflected this). This year proved that they need to expand as there weren't any really dominant teams. I still think any one of the 4 programs that are in can win it all.

Fair enough. Let's say it wasn't Alabama who lost to Texas at home, almost lost to a really bad Auburn team, and barely beat Georgia. Let's say it was Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, or some other mid-grade SEC team. You think that team is getting the 4 seed?
