I was wanting to build a a rod dryer and I got some information from this site earlier on motors. The link given was http://www.surpluscenter.com and then I typed in gearmotor. I don't know which one to order and was hoping someone with more experience could help me out. I am looking at 34 rpm 120 vac gearmotor. Is this the best one and what would be the best way to hook it up and make a dryer? Thanks in advance Ryan.
im not positive Ryan but 34rpm is wayyyyyyy to much rpm you want a slow motor like 6-8 rpm
i bought my dryer off of ebay for around $20 you might check there
a 34 will work but most folks use something around 4-6 RPm
I like the higher RPM motors for applying the thread epoxy
Surplus should have a 4RPM that's where I got mine.
I actually bought a 16 rpm motor from surplus and when i installed it I used a dimmer switch instead of a on/off. This lets me controlled the rpm and i can vary it for different things.
