Cut much grass in Alaska?

I know a retired AF Colonel with a very large yard/park around the house and about a thousand acres of potatoes in Alaska.

Lights mounted low can be great for seeing the cut edge of the grass. I used them often when I was working and short of time. Mounted my own LED driving lights. Factory lights are usually garbage. 3 lights on the front and one on the side and I can cut grass all night. Neighbors don’t care because they can’t hear it.

Yep, 100% spot on.

I used a snowblower on mine and lights were needed for sure. I ended up putting a 12” LED light bar on the hood of my tractor to really light things up a lot better than the stock headlights. Worked great for me for a number of years.

This is true but lawn and garden tractors are ill equipped for the job.

I've got a garden tractor. Not much bigger than a residential riding mower, but it has a ground engaging transmission (will pull a disc or tiller, etc). I have a reciever hitch on it and use it to move my boat around quite frequently. Lots of times, that's pulling it out of the shed early in the morning or putting it back late at night. For that reason, I have some cheap Amazon cube lights. Never mowed at night, but it puts out enough light that I could.

I used mine for 2 seasons. 25hp kohler and a berco blower. Loaded rear tires with chains. It will throw snow a honest 50 feet. That little set up has never failed to impress me. Cj

Drive through any town after a snow up north between 5-7 am and the amount of folks out clearing the drives and sidewalks before work will amaze you....FYI it's dark out then,headlights are common on walk behind snowblowers too.

Why do we do this to ourselves? Sad when you have to get up early to clear 24" of snow and drift out of your drive just to get out!!! What the heck are we thinking?? Cj

The tracks are made by my loader with over 20" of ground clearance and it is still scraping in spots. Just in case anyone thinks we are bsing them! Cj

i never mow after dark anymore. I do use the lights on my tractor when mowing close to the road. I figure it can help on coming cars to see me near the edge of the road.

my neighbor. he mows on Sunday at dark no matter the weather. he doesn't have lights on his mower. he rigs a big light to the front of mower. he is truly a moron....but Jesus loves him.

I feel your pain! Its Sunday and for two of mine its grass cutting day and the one next door under our bed room window knowing we are up at 3am every Monday. If it wasn't for my other good neighbors I'd throw a 1/4 stick of dynamite in the back yard at 3am might make my point.

I’ve had dark to catch me mowing a few times and could have finished it I did have lights. If I was going to try to mow after dark I would want a small LED light bar. The old tail light bulb lights that came in the tractor type mower back in the day are like mowing by candlelight!
