    06 TR196 re-power

Going to pull the 06 200 opti off my 05 TR 196 and go with a new 200 SHO. Any thoughts on props? Has a Pro Hijacker plate on it.

That will be an awesome setup especially if you call Hydro Tech Marine and get the motor flashed to a 300 hp, the TR196 is already a fast running hull and with a 300 it will fly.

Post some numbers when you get it all set up. I have a TR19 as well and have been toying with the idea of a new 200 SHO

So the re-power is done. Went with a Merc 200 Pro XS so we could use the same gauges and controls. I am using the old prop (Tempest Plus 25 P) for the break- in. Motor is set at 3-1/8" below pad for now. Picked up some solid plugs for testing. Hope to run it again Monday or Tuesday. Got a feeling this V-8 is going to fun. Motor came from Duck River. As of Thursday they still had one 200 PRO XS in stock.

Not the way I would have went but you may be able to hit 65 MPH with it. Can't flash it like an SHO though, Mercury screwed all of their customers on that.

Mercury didn’t screw anyone. It’s illegal to flash any of them

That's what I mean, it's not Illegal to flash a motor. The only people who constantly repeat that are Mercury, Mercury dealers, and people who have been influenced by them.

here is where the sqealing will start when a guy that has a boat with a 250 rating has their motor flashed an another contestant in a tournament protest them because they are out running the other boats . is it cheating by the rules yes for sure but some folks think some rules are ok to break an others arent .

Those are only the rules in some tournaments and the OP didn't even say he fished tournaments. Either way if you flashed it just keep your mouth shut and you will be fine. It's a fishing tournament not a boat race, having the motor flashed doesn't help you catch more fish.

I have no interest in being the fastest boat on the water. As far as flashing goes, at the very least I believe it voids the warranty.

Not on a Yamaha, Hydro Tech marine is a Yamaha dealer and they flash them.

I would think it's not illegal so long as the HP is at or below the USCG tag from the manufacturer for that particular vessel. Way off from the OP questions but a fun topic (re-flashing for more HP).

It’s the same as cars, diesels ect. EPA certifies each serial number/vin for emissions . Any mods void the certification

It's not illegal to flash vehicles either as long as the emissions equipment remains intact. Hundreds of programmers are sold every day to reflash vehicles and they are 100% legal.
