Where did I put the keys

I have had 2 times I missplaced keys

First, I was cleaning the boat and my granddaughter was sitting in the drivers seat and kept trying to start the engine. Well, I took the keys and put them on top of counsel. Has a tournament the next day, jumped into the boat, partner dumbed me in and NO KEY. Luckly, another guy had the same motor and his extra key worked. Fished all day, put boat back on trailer and Low and Behold there were my keys right where I put them.

Second time, went to KY lake, 350 miles away to fish a tournament. Was going to unhook the boat and couldn't find the keys so I could unlock coupler. Ended up breaking the lock off and getting another. When I got back to the motel. I looked down and on the rear bumper of the truck laid the keys I was looking for, Those keys road there all the way to the lake.

I fished with a friend all day. When we got back to the ramp.
( we were the only boat there ) He couldn't find his keys. We searched the boat for about a half hour, couldn't find them anywhere. Then we went to the truck. They were hanging from the driver's side door lock.

Haha, I would like ease your pain with a “been there done that” statement but, I’m not that lucky.! That woulda coulda been an ugly ending.!! You better go play you some lottery.!!

If you talk to the neighbor about your wife and address her as a lady in your house who tells you what to do there may be a problem. If not, clean out the spam file between the ears. I too am thinking two steps ahead rather than slowing down and taking care of the here and now.

Hide A Key is your friend. Been using them since I was 17 and I’m 68 now. Never been locked out or without.

Misplaced the ignition keys to my Ranger last year which was the second year of owning the boat. Conceded and replaced the ignition and less than 10 seconds after completing I found the spare to the original tucked on the right side of the drivers seat. The previous owner had it jammed into the crease under the shift. The key to the boat was a discontinued code so the first year I owned the boat I planned ahead and purchased a new ignition just in case. When I actually misplaced the keys I couldnt find the ignition I bought just in case. Now I have the original with a spare key and a second new in box ignition spare just in case.

I got to the lake and the keys were missing. Thirty YO boat so the spare was long gone so back to the house, drop off the boat, then fight through Friday afternoon traffic to the boat shop. Got a new ignition switch installed to save the weekend. Put away my tools, closed the tool box, and there they were. On the bench behind the box. I’d been working on the trailer earlier in the week and put the keys there after unlocking the coupler. I keep the spare taped under the console now.

This was 25 years ago but had a partner parking the vehicle find a beer bottle in the middle of a parking space he got out to move it and when he got back to the car he found he had locked the keys in the car with the motor running

The worst part is he is blocking traffic and no one is going to launch until he moves the car

To make matters worse my wheelchair is in the car so I can’t do anything but sit in the boat watching 10 grown men with coat hangers trying to get the door open
Took about 10 minutes but seemed like an eternity

SO now I keep a complete set of keys for the truck, boat and trailer in a locked compartment and I hide a compartment key in the boat

F250 has a combination lock... to unlock.............Keep a key hidden in truck, it also has the house key, which is what gets used the most...... the combo on the lock is a valuable tool.

Spare key for boat ignition on the same key ring as the spare truck keys, stored inside a waterproof box in the back deck compartment. I also put my ignition key on a coiled cord so it couldn’t be removed from the dash area. When I wanted to hide it, I took it out of the ignition and hung it under the dash.

I have learned over the years to always keep the keys in the same place. Door pocket of the truck. When I pull out of driveway I reach down and feel them. Same as when I pull away from the ramp. Hasn't failed me yet...but I also hide a key just in case.

My keys are always where I left them and I find them the very last place I look! Never lost my boat keys but pretty regularly lose my truck keys. One time I lost my truck in a large parking garage. Luckily I didn’t lose my keys and kept blowing the horn until I found it. I am a master of losing chit! At least temporarily.

I’ve never taken the boat key out of the ignition. But I do keep a spare in passenger console glove box.

spend a few bucks and buy apple air tags they work great - one goes on my keys and another stays in the boat - if its ever stolen ill have good idea where it is

I keep a spare set of boat keys including hitch lock and spare tire lock in my emergency tool kit under the console. I should get a spare truck key to keep there as well.
