    Question Looking for quality binoculars

I'm looking for good quality binoculars. I know that they are not cheap and don't mind spending the money for a quality pair but Swarovski ELs are close to 2500$, they are very good but wanted to spend closer to a grand. What does the BBC experts recommend?

What is your intended purpose? What magnification are you looking at and how much is weight/objective size a priority? The Swaro SLC’s are nice too. I’ve got 2 pair of those. 8x30 and 10x42. They are almost as good as my EL’s. At this point, if you are going to spend EL money though, I’d suggest getting the NL’s. The field of view is astounding.

A very nice set for a fraction of the price is the Nikon Monarch 7’s. Optically, they are excellent and have a great field of view. They are not as durable as Swaro’s though. Plastic body. I have a set I had to send back because an eye piece fell out of the body. They body had cracked.
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

I have been looking at 8.5x42. I don't hunt much anymore, mostly upland birds. What I want them for is bird watching and sighting across the water when out in the boat.

You'll get alot of options and I'd suggest to choose based on your use and personal preference as well as in ergonomics and eye comfort of what your looking for. (Basically try them outside in lower light conditions). I have an older pair of Swarovski's that I use for hunting. Several variations of Vortex I have in the vehicles and in the house. If I were to buy another pair at your price range it would be the Leica Trinovid HD. They've been around a while but they fit me well and are as good as or better than the Swarovski's I have now. They can be found all over for 1k or less.

I spend a couple weeks renting a houseboat on Rainy lake towing my bass boat behind it. Need binoculars to spot the islands that you can tie up to when out on the lake.

I would get something a little stronger, like 15x50 for longer range but most birders use the less, so your needs may require two sets.

I bought a couple pair of binos recently, I don't think you should spend $1k. Either spend $500 or $3000. The difference between a $500 and $1000 isn't going to be much, especially if you're just bird watching. I ended up buying a pair of Maven C1 and Steiner HX (a landowner gift)

Look up the brand Celestron. They are very well regarded in the bird watching community. I bought a pair 6-7 years ago and have since added a second pair. They are very affordable for what you get.

Wow, you have a lot of glass. I have one pair of Nikons that seldom leave the house (just for looking at birds and wildlife in the yard) and a $10 pair that I leave at camp. Of course we don't really have the wide open spaces like you do.

Cannot beat Vortex. Best bang for the buck. Brdy warrantee in the market. I have the diamondback HD's in 10 x 42 and they are all I need. 2 years ago I dropped them from my treestand, they landed on a boulder and broke. I mailed them back under the unconditonal lifetime no fault warrantee. I told them exactly what happened and that it was 2000% my fault. They sent me a brand new pair with no charge.

My wife is big time into bird watching and photography, she has a pair of Zeiss terra ed in 10x42 that are very good. In the $500 range, I don't think you would be disappointed.

Call Doug at CameralandNY for lower than advertised prices. Great folks, great prices with lots of choices. I have several sets of Leupold, early Swarovskis and Meopta. I try real hard not to buy China stuff. Some Vortex offerings are made there. The Razor line is Made in the USA.

    I highly recommend Meopta.

Leopold. Good glass great warranty. I dropped mine the first hunting trip I used them. No joke dropped them at the truck. Broke the eye piece. Called the company told them it was all on me nothing defective. I explained I wanted them fixed. They gave me info where to send them. I even put a note with the binoculars that the damage is not a defect but caused by me dropping them.In less than 2 weeks they sent me a new pair. No charge. I am a Leupold guy for sure now.

For that price range, Zeiss Conquest HD. They are right at 1k and perform way above that price point. I’ve put them up against Swaro, Leica etc and they are on par for clarity, fit and finish. Way better glass optically than Vortex at that price, even the Razor. Vortex does have a better marketing campaign which is evident. Lol.
