I like the Xcaliber Zell Pops and I've thrown some rico's and Lucky's, both of which are good but costly. The Rico's are the ticket at times though.

Most of the time I do better with a Yo-Zuri Pop'n Splash than just about any other popping style lure. It seems to create just a little less noise and surface splash than most of the others for those times when a little more finesse presentation is in order..

My favorite has become the Yellow Magic poppers. A little pricey but they have paid off in tournaments.

I only by Don Iovino Splash-Its. It is one of the few baits I will spend the big bucks for.

Same one's I fish. I just picked up one of the new Xcalibur Poppers.....I think I may be switching to them. They are awesome and a few bucks cheaper than the Splash-It's

Sportsman's Warehouse always have the Excalibur baits a bit cheaper than anywhere else.

    Pop-R's!!

    These are some I modified.

Even the one's straight out of the package are hard to beat if you change the hooks and add a oval split ring to the front.
Next to these, Splash-it's are my favorites. Backwaters had the Splash-its on sale, but I think I nearly wiped them out. Did get a few more Cabelas bucks in the process though!

I would have to say Baku baits Apopalypse. It is a soft plastic popper that can be rigged with a 4/0 EWG hook weedless and fished anywhere. Definitely my go to popper.

Re: Who makes the best poppers (Ranger_man)

We manufacture it in multiple buoyancies (A, B & D). "D" is a sinker and can be used as a jerk bait or is great wacky rigged. "A" will float up to a 5/0 hook remaining on the surface for maximum "pop & bob" action. "B" is a slow / suspended fall formulation that enables the angler to pop it on top and then let it fall for those fish that are curious but won't smack it on the surface. The beauty of the bait is that you can put it in heavy cover without worry of hanging up.

Re: Who makes the best poppers (PrezBaku)

Dave is right. Some days when the fish will not rise to the surface to explode on the "A" bouyancy; which does not occur often I will switch to the "B" or even the "D" bouyancy to get bait it in front of them. I usually will pop the "B" and "D" a few times on the surface immediately after the cast like a fleeing baitfish then let it fall. The apopalypse is a great product and once other anglers realize the potential of this bait it is sure to make its home in many anglers rigs. In my opinion it is the best innovation it soft plastic baits in quite some time. A lot of products are marketed to perform a certain way but usually fall short of doing so. The Apopalypse and many of the Bakubaits products I have purchased have performed beyond my expectations unlike some others I do not care to mention.
