    Yamaha SHO Service Info

I just bought a new Skeeter ZX 20 with a 250 SHO, and I was wondering where everyone else in VA has service work done on their engine. I am from Roanoke, Va, and I don't know of any local dealers outside of Angler's Choice. Does anyone have anyone that they would recommend? Any help would be appreciated.

I can tell you that the engine technician from Angler's Choice has been to Atlanta a couple of times for school and updates on the SHO engines. For some personal insight on his service of the SHO engines, check with majorbass here on the boards. He's been running a SHO since they hit the market, and David has done all of his service work.

Greg is correct. I'm running my second SHO and Angler's Choice has done all my service work. David is as good as they come when it comes to marine engines. Call me if you have any questions.

I appreciate the information. On another note, have you had any issues with either of your SHO's since you have owned them? I have read a lot of chatter on here about some problems with them "making oil" and "squealing". In your experience, have encountered any of these issues? My boat is supposed to be here around the first of November, and I can't wait to take her to SML and break in the engine. Do you have any experience either positve or negative with the break in process on these engines?

I haven't had any issues at all. As to the "chatter", name one engine manufacturer that hasn't had problems of some kind. Once the rings seat, those oil issues should be history. The break-in process needs to be followed to the letter. The first hour is all idle. I know exactly how far I can go at idle at SML, from Penhook to the State Park. I'll let your dealer explain the rest of the process, but it's about 3 hours and then 7 hours of limited WOT. I did the whole thing in one day on this last one. We've only had one with major problems and Yamaha took care of that ASAP.
