    lower unit

    what perfomance benifit going from, 1.87 to a 2.1 or a 1.78.1 on a heavy boat, 200 merc, not sure this is the right place to post

    Jimmy,
    Gear ratio changes can be accomplished by simply changing prop pitches:

    Example 1:87 with 22 pitch would be the same as say a 2:1 with a 24 pitch ...Its all to do with the combo.
