You can use any V-4 case but the key is to have the correct length upper drive shaft as well as the correct length and design shift rod.
Can the drive and shift rods be reused? Are do they come with the lower unit?
does any one know haw long mine is?
had one go bad on my 96 and I find a bunch of the older one's from the 80's

You can mix and match, depending on the gearcase you find as a donor will determine what you end up having to do, to make it work. The V-4's come in a lot of different ways. For example, if you were to find one from '79 and up, it may have one of 3 different D.S. lengths. If you run into a problem, I've got all the different shafts, so maybe I can help.
Thanks guys
gearcaseman,, I'll keep you in mine

GL is an Intruder/ Fast Strike model it would be easier on you if you could find a 1992 and up V-4 with a two piece drive shaft.
