Have just ordered a Skeeter ZX190 (2012 model) and was wondering what size jackplate would be most suitable. It will be powered by an Evinrude 200HO.
I belive the boat comes standard with 12" Jack plate, however I have heard that an 8" Jack plate could improve the boat stability and handling, especially in rough conditions.
Dont know if anyone has a similar setup, any thoughts on this would be appriciated.

Yes, there will be better boat control with the 8" plate. It will improve the boats stability. But that is just my opinion. Some people just like to go fast. I like to turn quickly without blowing out if I need to. You still have to slow down but jet skis come out of no where on Conroe and Houston. And STUMPS are prominent right now.
What Speed difference are we talking, between say an 8" and 12" plates?
Minimal difference. Don't see many skeeters here pair with a Rude, mostly all Yamaha's. May want to give a shout on the Skeeter forum.
