Thumbs Up Love the shaky head!

More often than not, I can get away fishing a ton of other bigger baits for post spawn largemouth here in the northeast. BUT, I've had plenty of days where the shaky head crushes everything else. Something about that presentation that always does exceptionally well this time of the year when they won't eat anything else.

My buddy Andrew and I went out the other day and I put at least 20 in the boat in a short session to his 4. He lived and died by the jig, swimbait, and t-rigged craw. I kept trying those and many other baits, but every time I picked that shaky head back up, I out fish in the boat. Just need to keep working on options for it to get some bigger fish!

My number one go to this time of year. I use the Zman wormz and headz. It's weird how everyone fishes it different. I see you guys throwing with a spinning rod. I throw it on a baitcaster with a 7'10 MH TFO rod lol..... But, I am fishing brushpiles in 10-15 FOW.

    Nice .

Graduated from texas rigged worms to shakey head when trying to learn to find and fish isolated weed patches and weedlines. Did that for years with great success. Switched to drop shot and can't buy a fish on a shakey head or a texas rigged worm for that matter. Only way to reeducate myself is the one rod technique. It's coming soon. Got beat bad by a worm fisherman last tournament fishing old school. Went on a buying binge last 4 years stockpiling worms for shakey and texas. Haven't got a tooth mark on one yet.

8 lb test normally…..may go to 6 if the water is super clear. In my experience, the shaky head bite is best between February and July (when water temps hit upper 80s).

I've tried and tried, and I just can't catch a fish on a shaky head.

Try a lizard! My preference is the 5" Zoom lizard in GP, but sometimes use 6". Currently working my way through a bag of the new Berkley MaxScent lizzys, and don't see the magic. We hope to catch SM, but sometimes get LM if we're not careful.

I fish the Shakyhead on a baitcaster also, because I started with 10 lb Flourocarbon. Finally changed to 12 lb P-line CXX and didn't notice any difference in number of bites. I tend to do a LOT better on the Shaky than a DS, and I'm currently trying to figure out why. Weight too heavy or bait too far from the weight seem to be likely causes. I'm intending to try a Shaky on the bottom of a DS rig instead of a weight. Going fishing tomorrow, and expect water temps to be 65 > 68F.
Don't bother me, I'm screwing for virginity.

I killed a 12-pack just to watch it die.
