Exclamation Good Read.. Cylindrical VS Prismatic cells

    https://www.lithiumion-batteries.com...atic-cells.php

Great question to ask before you purchase any lithium battery... At Impulse we use Cylindrical Grade A cells in all our lithiums ( grade A plus cylindrical in our upcoming platinum bluetooth series) . Why would some use Prismatic? Simple... cost. Prismatic are much cheaper.
At impulse we try to build a affordable battery with the best components possible, with the best warranty and still offering the best price for what your getting. Check out our current lineup at Imulselithium.com and get with me for the best pricing on all Impulse.
Coming soon our 120 ah Platinum series dedicated cranker tested on pro xs 4s and yamaha sho. Grade A plus cylindrical cells ( not prismatic like some other brands) w bluetooth. Will be the best cranking lithium on the market. And backed by our non prorated full 10 year warranty.

Much like unfair competition. Tomorrow someone will want to make money, and will prove that only triangular elements are the most correct.)))
As we all know, more elements in a design will create more problems. Why fence a "vegetable garden" if you can make a battery of only four elements? All ingenious is simple!
I suppose you managed to find a cheap supplier of round elements.))

All of the automobile batteries are cylindrical cells as well. I didn't know any boat battery manufacturers were using them....was going to just build my own.

They cylindrical when made with Panasonic or Samsung cells. All prismatic (that I have found) are made in China. Batteries from China are really high on my list of things to avoid.

lifepo4 (lithium iron phosphate)is a super stable chemistry unlike lithium ion Let me know when you hear of a lifepo4 battery catching fire...... ill wait...:

Is it possible that the Panasonic and Samsung branded cells are made in China?

Since Li Fe PO4 is Lithium=Li, Iron=Fe, and Phosphate=PO4, how can it be unlike lithium iron phosphate?

I don't agree with most of that article. Seems very biased. If prismatic cells are used and built with compression and a proper BMS most of those "cons" don't exist.

They tell you where they are made if you buy them in bulk. Plants here, Japan, Korea are ones I've seen. Haven't seen China, but I am sure that they both do have plants there.

Fact remains one prismatic cell goes bad your done, it would take many cylindrical cells to go bad in order to lose that much voltage that it would render the battery unusable. Plus cylindrical cells are better in a moisture laden environment ( marine use). As moisture is the the #1 killer of a lithium battery. nobody is saying a prismatic cell battery is bad per say just stating that a cylindrical cell battery is better yes

No professional here.......So, if the battery has 6 prismatic, one goes out, you test them and replace..... the other battery has cylindrical cells, let's just say 50 of them, you have one or some go out, now you have to take the whole thing apart to find out which cells out of the 50 are bad??? Now we assume that the company will replace the battery, your good to go and they take it apart and find the bad cells.....

Whether you have Li batteries, agm, wet cell, etc. if it goes out it goes out.....

Again, not a professional in batteries maybe a professional can let us know...

you could have a few go out on cylindrical and still use that battery for years, prob wouldnt even know. 1 prismatic goes out your down 3.6 or so volts and that battery is down till replacement.
