    Spark plug question

    A previous thread about spark plugs got me thinking;
    the service manual for my 1995 225 Evinrude (E225STLEO) shows the recommended plugs to use are the Champion QL77JC4, but the chart pinned at the top of this board shows the QL78YC.
    What is the difference between them and am I ok using either one?
    Thanks.

    Hmmm, just checked my title for the motor and it shows 1994 for year, but 1995 for Model/program year. Which do I go by?

    The chart has been updated since that or those model years. Go with the 78's

    You always use the model number for ordering parts - the year built does not mean anything - same as for cars, why can you buy a 2012 car from a dealer today when it's only the middle of 2011?
