The biggest thing honestly is the built in steering... The ITS system they released recently for the I/o's was cool, this deal however is a game changer. Thats the part that will eventually trickle down to the niche markets and smaller outboards. I doubt the 2 speed makes it down below for a while

2 speed transmission, 4 cams, 4 valves per cylinder. What could possibly go wrong? But it won't take long for someone to put one on a Bullet.

Prior to this post, I had not heard of the two-speed transmission.

-Is the shifting automatic or manual?
-Does the transmission shift at speed, or just allow selection of hi/lo at idle?
-For an off-shore boat with multiple engines, how will the shifting be syncronized across all engines, if shifting at speed?

    Thanks

Automatic..its supposedly so "seamless and smooth" that unless you are watching the tach you wouldn't know it happened.
It shifts as needed.. Mercury Racing R&D has had the synchronizing down on engine pairings etc for a long time...

Thanks for info, Bass Junkie. Should be a great performer for off-shore boats.

Mercury OB's will be white in the future. Many customers objected to the black, saying it showed water spots and was too hard to keep clean and shiny.
Don't bother me, I'm screwing for virginity.

I killed a 12-pack just to watch it die.

They have been white on the salt water side for a long time as a option I think. My 225 EFI saltwater Merc. is black on my Lund. I need'ed the long shaft motor for a 25 inch transom.

Think of all the moving parts at work with 3 or 4 of those things mounted on a transom.
