    Apple car

Anybody find it odd that AAPL would work with Hyundai/KIA for an EV? Maybe it's different in other areas around the world, but who wants a KIA?

And the commentary from the analysts have been interesting. I heard one guy say that AAPL could add 2 trillion in market cap because of this move. This same guys has also been a TSLA bear. But he's excited about the AAPL car. Has AAPL been testing autonomy? TSLA has billions of miles, Waymo has millions? how many miles does AAPL and KIA have? And everyone is acting like it's a done deal for AAPL level 5 driving.

Too little Too late in my opinion. I think it will be a flop.

I was not surprised that AAPL was entering the EV market, but I was shocked at who they chose to partner with for this endeavor.

Why surprised? Hyundai/Kia makes a solid vehicle (not my flavor) but they arent the junk they were 15 years ago. Theres a niche there

They will be built in Georgia also. I'm not sure what he real plan is here. Someone had reported that it may not be an exclusive deal with just Kia. Maybe they are going to just brand a certain model with the Apple logo and have Apple technology inside. I don't think Apple has officially confirmed anything yet. Plenty of market to go around especially at the lower end of the price range. Maybe they will be building these for cheaper fleet vehicles (rental car companies, company cars etc.). I guess we will find out at some point.

I can agree with this. The EV stuff is definitely not my thing, but you see a lot of Kias and Hyundais on the road. If a company like AAPL can get a cheaper EV vehicle out there, then it could be a success. Teslas are high....

News came out a couple days ago in China that they got approval for a new model. Most believe its the 25K car and will start production later this year.

The thing about an Apple car is that you will have to get a new one every year to keep up! Same as the phones. Ask me how I know.....

When we were looking at new cars a few years ago the Hyundai/Kia salesman says the engineers steal all the good stuff from other brands anyway so AAPL knows it's stuff is gonna end up there anyway?

Also Hyundai/Kia is more affordable to the younger crowd and they're more likely to be early adopters of whatever tech goes into the new car. The Lounge is the perfect example of the fogies being slow to change, lol.

I think that is part of it. Also we have a lot of people from oil pricing states where they may work for big oil or have friends or family that do. They will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the green age

They are just resistant to changes by nature. I still remember how they ridiculed power poles, chatterbait and the A-rig

Hyundai / Kia makes a great reliable vehicle. I bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra in October 2016 for $14k for my work burner car. I put 95k miles on it and sold this past June for $6k. Nothing but oil changes, tires and an air filter. I'm looking at a Hyundai or Kia in the small SUV category for my next burner car. They are a great value....

The lounge reminds on a regular basis that there are two different worlds in this country. Not that one is better than the other, but life is very different. MD is a good example of the two different worlds. In the populated areas I see EVs on a regular basis along with solar. Chargers are at many stores and locations. From most places I'm only a couple minutes away from a charger. But where I hunt on the Eastern shore it's like going back in time. Those people never see an EV have no reason to know about latest techs and trends. They're simply never exposed to many types of information.

Very true. I see TSLAs ecerytime I am driving and one of the outdoor malls here has charging stations in the parking lot. If I lived in a more rural area then a TSLA probably wouldn't work for long commutes without readily available charging stations.

There's something I don't like about the Lucid CEO, they remind me of Nikola. They have yet to deliver a car and yet they are talking about getting into the energy market eventually. He sounds like the Nikola CEO with using every buzz word of the EV industry. Lets see the deliveries first before we start talking about changing the world.

On the other side, I think the car will do well and put a hurtin on Mercedes.
