Does anyone know what the max RPM'S would be on this motor ?
Plus what gears are in the lower unit?
J200STLEUB 1997
I don't have the owners manual on it, any help would be appreciated

1.86:1 gear ratio
Rev limiter is set at 6700 RPM
Internals on an old motor will start becoming exteral parts about 6150 RPM
Im running 5700 with a four blade 25P gade should I be trying to get that number up to 61 or so ?
Internals on an old motor will start becoming exteral parts about 6150 RPM I have no idea what this is will you give me some brief details please.
Thanks
You run it much at 6150 and BOOM!!! Internals becoming externals is NOT a good thing - it means blowed up.![]()
Not sure what the power band is on that motor, but 5700 seems like a good place to be.

It means if you turn more than 6150 RPM's you increase the possibility of blowing the motor. In a sever case the connecting rod will actually break through the block and you can see the internal parts of your motor through a large crack in the block...hence the phrase your internals became externals. If your motor throws a rod through the side of the block there is no fix for that, you will be looking for another motor.
If you are turning a 25 Renegade to 5700 and are happy with the performance I would not change anything.
