    Re: Service Lower Unit (SEAHORSE)

Thanks Seahorse. In preperation for a trip this weekend I plan to change the LU gear oil and found that when I removed the drain plugs smf gaskets I was having a hard time reinstalling the plugs. I did find when cleaning the fine medal shavings from the magnet tip of the lower plug that the magnet tip had broken but was still in place. I had added Quicksilver gear lube to the LU and was having a hard time replacing the plugs. I tried to hand start the plugs but could not. Making almost 1 turn of the plug then it felt tight. For fear of cross threading I decided to wait till in the morning and go to the dealer for 2 new plugs and neoprene gaskets, along with some Evinrude/Johnson gear lube. Thanks again Seahorse.
