It's not an E-tec.

It could be either that year, depends on the model number. You might want to let us know what it is.

If it is an E-TEC it will say so on the motor cover and the cover has 3 latches, one on the back and one on each side.

The FICHT version says Evinrude DI on the cover and has 2 latches, one front and one rear.
