    Fly wheel Magnets

Ok I finally got the flywheel off and changed the regulator. Upon inspection I noticed the magnets under the flywheel move around. Are the magnets glued in place or do they just stick there. When I started the motor and turned it off I checked the magnets. I could push them back up in the flywheel about 1/16th of inch. If they are somewhat glued, what do I use to glue them with.

wire wheel on a drill to clean the area then use a solvent to clean it epoxy and clamp the magnet in place.

another tip would be to find a bolt that fits exactly between the magnets that are still glued in place and use them to space the loose magnets .

Another great suggestion. Will use the wire brush, and clean well. Then clamp them babies in place. I will try to post a pic of the boat and motor. It isn't much but its my baby. Thanks everyone.

1986 Basshawk 17, 86 Johnson GT 150, #70 Minnkota, 24P Raker. This is may baby. The boat handles very well even in rough water.

Do not use a wire brush, the reason the magnets came loose is from rust and the brush particles will rust and push the newly glued magnets loose again.

Bead blast the inner part where the magnets are placed. Any machine shop, many dealers or independent shops have glass bead cleaning machines.

Use the factory epoxy kits for best results. Each packet will glue 2 magnets. If any are cracked, you can also order magnets from your dealer and they come with the epoxy.
