If you have something deemed illegal in your carry-on, the airport confiscates it unless you have a way to take it back out of the airport. They will not store it for you to pick up on your way back home. My needle nose pliers I was taking to Florida were in my carry-on. Didn't remember having them there rather than the other luggage. They were too long. Airport kept them. Wonder what they do with all the confiscated stuff. Sell it on ebay?

I have seen some eBay sellers posting confiscates from airlines. I may be wrong but I believe the airports or lines dump them in quantity at auction lots and the buyers put them on eBay. Stuff I saw was big lots of pocket knives and swiss army style knives plus other guy stuff.

Some airports have a sorta flea market type place where its all sold. Along with unclaimed luggage
