    Garmin Tech Support - QuickDraw

I've been mapping a lake I've been fishing lately that hasn't been mapped. Lake Santeetlah, NC. I'm getting some good maps using the PS30. It is really impressive how this transducer works with QuickDraw. So I decided to share this in the QuickDraw Community. Logged in, simple procedure to upload the mapping. File uploading thermometer goes right along and hangs toward the end. I tried it repeatedly and had the same problem every time. Hangs and doesn't complete no matter how long I wait. So I called Tech Support. Talked to Steve. He said that most likely my problem was my internet speed. Well I really didn't think that was it but I had an alternative. I can do Verizon HotSpot from my cell phone and connect to it. So I did that and whoosh, the file uploaded without a hitch. If you are doing QuickDraw Community, take that into account.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

Good feedback. Have you used PS22 for QuickDraw? Assume you set orientation to Downview?

I have not use the PS22 for Quickdraw. If it did, yes I would point it down. I would think it would do better than a 2d transducer. PS30 get a wide swath and good detail on one pass.

I believe I read where Todd posted the ps22 will not map with way you are thinking. Works just like 2d. Its only the ps30 that gives you the wide swath. Let me know if you find out otherwise though.

How does the sonar file look like? A regular xducer presumably will have one x,y,z data point per time unit, so a ps30 file will have multiple x,y,z points per time? Is this file accessible to users to extract those data? inquiring minds want to know.
    thanks in advance.

Can't help you. I don't have a clue. I do know that the mapping produced by the PS30 is impressive. I was in some deeper water today and it was mapping a 100 ft width on 1 ft contours. The width it maps is depth dependent. So a bunch of data has to go into that file. I was reading some patent info that I presumed was related to the PS30 and it mentioned 60 elements.
