Of course maybe HB will release an external box for use with older units. Sort of like is needed for LS12 when used with older units or for LS32 with any unit.

The LVS12 can't be used with older units. It only works with units that have the special yellow connector for it, like the Ultras or 84xx/86xx units. There is no black box for it to be used with other units.

No. It doesn't mean that. The difference between the 84xx and 86xx is the 86xx has built-in maps. GT36/56 will work the same on the 84xx boxes as on the 86xx boxes.

Thank you LW, it seems odd that Garmin would specify 86xx XSV only.
