    Need some positive thinkin please

Fellas, please do a little positive thinkin for my son Garret. He's been working like a dog at a not so great paying job for a year now, tops in his group for hours worked, all the while submitting his resume to various Refineries to obtain an Operators job which is what he went to school for. He has tested several times but the #'s are astronomical as far as those applying versus how many they hire.

He got a call to test for DOW Chemical a few weeks ago. Couple weeks later they emailed him to be available for a telephone interview. 8 days later they emailed him that he had been turned over to the hiring team @ DOW for an interview with them.
    the numbers ---
    Over 800 applicants tested.
60 were chosen for the phone interview.
30 were chosen to interview with DOW.
    there are 10 positions available.
Garret & Bailey are expecting a baby girl in 14 days. He's making the note on his PU, her car, and her student loans. The boy sure does need this job and could use some good ole country luck.
Thanks for listening and if you could keep yer fingers crossed with me I'd appreciate it.

Cork, all I have to say is good things happen to good people. I know form our conversations you rasied him right and he is good people. From what you just posted he has the work ethics to do Dow a great job. Fingers are crossed and hoping for the best for Garret and his family.

Re: Need some positive thinkin please (Corkpuller)

I've never asked for prayers on here before(not that I ever won't) as I feel they are a ton of folks a whole lot less fortunate than I, and we have some of our own here with health problems that need alll the we can give, noteably Mr. McKnight. Dang sure ain't turning any down so if you feel that's what's best then have at it The job will come someday, I personally am Praying for a healthy baby girl for them.

Garret called a few minutes ago and said he got a call from BP yesterday and has a FULL day interview with them on the 26th They have a much longer hiring process as those positions are to start in mid September. He tested with them around the same time he tested for DOW. He told his Supervisor at his current job that he had these interviews coming up and that guy asked "what would it take to keep you here"? Said he offered him a $10 an HOUR raise to start with as a coordinator and straight days M-F.
Sounds like business is picking up

The American way as of late.... Nothing better than a "Parking Lot" raise. I have been offered my share over the years. Tell Garret to take into consideration that it seem his present employer doesn't offer raises on mreit. Seems they only offer a raise out of fear. Not good in my book. Sure hope things work out for the best.

Craig, you are dead on the money. That's basically the exact thing I told him Our son in law works for the same outfit and he threatened to leave a while back and they promoted him. Well he got a promotion in "position" but they have yet to raise his wage.

Troy we will say a little prayer for Garrett and Bailey that he gets the job.

But even if he doesnt I know the apple doesnt fall far from the tree and I'm sure he is a very hard worker and hard work pays off.

I know you and grandma wouldnt like it but a guy with those kind of skills can pretty much write his own ticket out here in the oilfield.
