Need Help on a trim motor Johnson 200hp

I have a 1997 Johnson 200hp engine that the trim electic motor has gone out. I am looking at replacing the motor myself vs the 140.00 to have the shop do. Has anyone ever do this themselves and was this a simple job. I have some experience with working on motors so can find my way around I just dont want to bite of to much to save the money, unless it is a straight forward job. Thanks Brian

Not too bad of a job, if you can raise the motor to support it on the trailer bracket. If the motor is that bad use the manual release screw, back it out about 3 turns and grab the skeg and lift the motor up and set it on the brackets. Remove the clip from the pin that holds the tilt ram in place and drive it out. If you can run the trim motor down so the tilt ram clears the mid-section. The assembly will tilt towards you and now you can remove the motor. You will also have to remove the spade connectors from the plug at the engine, a jewlers screwdriver will work in releasing the locking tab inside the plug. Remove the cable from the sheath and reverse the process.
