It's crystal clear, but great lake to fish. Go early and check it out in the daylight first though!! Lots of stumps. We have caught fish there, just back off and try to stay out of their field of view! Gerald will give you some tips as soon as he gets our sausage and eggs ready - we're off to Fork this morning.

Lake is full of Hydrilla, (and I mean full unless water is approx. 10' deep)water clear, when you leave boat ramp go thru trees in marked lane, very small creek runs along north side of tree line, I always start on North bank now in about 4' water can't get any closer for grass...from there go under bridge and start fishing just a little left of bridge, the lake is an old flat field ...no humps to speak of it is solid trees under the water since most have fallen. Grass is almost solid as two weeks ago when we were there.
If you go back to the East from bridge the creek follows the tree line and then goes northeast, you will notice a very small point approx. 1/8 mi.creek runs along this point, I have never caught any quality fish from there to dam. Two weeks ago Toni caught some nice fish on the Gambler swim blade. I did well on a Junebug wacky worm, watermelon/redfleck zoom fluke, 1/8 oz. firecracker spinner bait.Put the Mk in 4wheel drive and hit the flat....if fish are on you should have 18- 20 lb. stringer.I took pics of lake before it had water in it but lost them one time when computer crashed. What I have told you is my set pattern evertime. There is an old deer blind in the flat (some reason holds good fish) but can't get to it now due to matted grass. I'll talk to you when I get back from Lake Fork Thursday Afternoon....Leaving soon as I eat breakfast, it is now 4:22 am...
P.S In case they forget to tell you 16" min. on Gilmer Lake.

    Re: Lake Gilmer (Bobs21X)

Since Fork was such a frustrating day, we decided to just come home and go to Gilmer Lake in the morning. We'll let you know how we did. It's a shame the full moon just passed, but it might still be pretty bright Friday.

Ok......got 5 rods ready for the lake.......

    two Heavycover rods.......(with secret baits)
    one worm rod
    one fluke rod
one toad rod (looked like some good matted grass or hydrilla to work around near dark time

couldn't find any Gambler Swim Blades or the like at Wally World or at Academy.

Toni bought 4 Gamlers at Academy Tuesday but they didn't have many. If you have a moss boss by heddon tie it on, if not tie a buzz bait on for later night. Matted ain't the word for it.

    Re: Lake Gilmer (basspastor)

Wacky Worm & weightless senko have produced some good fish out of Gilmer for me and a buddy. Wacky worm was good for a 9.3 last summer for my buddy. Senkos up to 7 lbs. Toads were also killer early am, but I'm sure they'd work great for the evening bite as well.

    Here's a pic of the 9.3

Last time I was out my honey hole was covered in grass... Still a great little lake!

Gilmer has an 18" min length on LMB. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fi...ilmer/
