Hear hear Mr Gnewikow aka backlash....

I don't know if any of you noticed but our resident member "backlash" sacked 'em up big time last Saturday on KY lake in the HOPE Ministries tourney out of Pebble Isle. To the tune of 28lbs & change.

He won $5K for his troubles + maybe a little Triton $$$.

When I saw him pull into Pebble Isle I just left and fished the TN River Trail out of Birdsong..

Congrats dude. Heck of a bag!!!

why would you see him and leave? i fished the same event and finished 14th with 20.40 should have weighed closer to 26lbs. but hey i will try again next time. i personally dont know him but he seems to be a nice gentlemen. others say that quote( look who is here we should just fish and not enter the event). i have fished against gnewikow and sain and have beat them on some occassions. yes the are good fisherman but dont ever back down never know when your day is your day. that could have been your 28lbs especially on this lake.

Yeah I hear ya.... You're like a blind squirrel with eyes in the back of your head.

I found a couple acorns today but they sure need to get bigger between now and Saturday to be in contention for anything more than just a check. I have not caught a 6lber the whole month of June!

Are you guys fishing the Paul Steele out of Paris. Uh oh... maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that.

no im just curiuos why someone would leave a event just because someone was in the event they thought would be hard to beat. like i said they both are excellent fisherman. my statement was made in the direction of dont give up even if they caught 28lbs every weekend they still can slip up and you may be the one who catches the next 28lbs. i personally enjoy the challenge of fishing against other locals who are that good cause i fell it only makes you better by pushing yourself to try to beat them or others.

Dead Grass: How'd you do in the Paul Steele? We went to the Dam and fished the Sportsmen's edge. Had 21 something. 6th (I think).

    Good deal man.

I don't want to talk about the Paul Steele!

I practiced a couple days before and found 2 really nice schools of fish on the crankbait. I caught 4lb caliber fish on consecutive casts on both spots. They were choking it down pretty good too. I felt really good about being able to catch 20-21lb off either spot. On Saturday one spot never yielded so much as a bite and the other one had 3 consecutive jump offs of 4lb fish on the first 3 casts. Then it was shut down. I tried several times throughout the day to fire them back up and they wouldn't touch anything.

I ended up plinking around way north of my comfort zone and catching 13-14lb that I didn't even weigh.

June was tough on me this year. I caught a couple 21-22lb bags really early and since I've had trouble catching the fish that I'd find while practicing. Seemed to move around more than usual and definately not as big of schools.

I likes me some July though!
