Wow, what happened here? It looks like smooth water and no swells/wake or anything that would cause a massive blowout like that....

Less weight on the bow, less power loss due to bow lift = more speed... :)

man... sometimes I realize myself thinking: “...if I had the option to go back to that very moment -2 seconds!”... would i choose to go back??? I’ll never know... it’s hard to think about it... I ran 100+ without knowing the weight of water ...

Andy owns record holding race cars... He likes speed and was trying to do the same thing as the OP. Trying different props, motor heights etc. He bought the boat used and the lower unit was not original. It was replaced with the wrong one. A straight skeg instead of the torque tamer. When the motor was raised and trimmed out, It wanted to spin around on him. He was on the edge at 92 mph and the gearcase blew out...

He called me to thank me for saving his life.... Previously he was not running with a life vest, kill switch and had no way to get back into the boat. He is near 60 years old. I was just telling him that he needs to wear a "Good" high speed PFD and wear his kill switch. He listened to me. He liked my All Aboard ladder on my boat and had his kids buy him one for a gift.

So he felt like the outcome would have been different if I didn't bust his chops just before this happened...

He bought this boat after driving mine, Then sold it right after this happened. He bought 2 BassCats with 250 and 300HP motors.... I think he misses the Bullet.

Lives: I think about lives. Three here or maybe 4 that hung on the edge in an instant of mayhem. I believe there could have been 4 gone to The Other Side except for Divine intervention. Scary.

Money: My second thoughts are about money. I'd suppose both the boat and the motor in Brazil were toast. It looks like North of $100K to me. Like one should always ask: "Who's paying for all this"?

Construction: Would other hulls fare any different than those? A hull can look cool, ride nice and go fast but us it built for the speeds these motors can deliver? Are they chopper gun or hand laid? Does hull flexing account for or contribute to these catastrophes?

On a side note ,I love speed, but after owning a slow boat 68 at best and with my kids growing up on the boat and now they take it out 21-22 years old Iam glad I never went that direction on speed as mid 60s is all my boys need for now.

So with the mention of correcting this condition or regaining control once it has happened from experiencing it multiple times I have 2 questions.

    1. What is the in the seat feeling just prior to it happening?

    2. What in the world is the corrective action?

I ask this because like I said in a previous post on this video I was shooting for 80 MPH in my own rig. I got some funny feelings that caused me back off. It felt like the back end was skating around or crabbing if you will when fully trimmed and creeping the jackplate higher and higher. I never lost any water pressure and was still gaining RPMs so I felt like I had more to go but couldn't get any real first hand experienced answers on what I had going on. So I felt like I better leave well enough alone fearing it was trying to blowout. I cant help but be curious though.
I was able to achieve 77 MPH when this feeling occurred.
